It’s youth sports, not the Olympics. Not every parent/family can take vacations at a time that’s convenient for travel sports, school, and work obligations. More important- does the athlete/parent give enough notice so the coach can modify the game plan? Teach accountability
HOT BUTTON topic that drives me insane: Why parents would schedule a long vacation during a school sports season and put their child in an uncomfortable position because they are not available to be with team and coaches is so frustrating to me. Don’t vacation during seasons!
Everyone wants to rush to be an expert instead of mastering the basics and transitioning to independent clinical practice.
1/2 Now being a Sports PT Residency program director, I'm even more convinced that in a majority of cases, it's best to practice a year or two prior to doing a residency. New grads are often seeing stuff for the first time. Learning to be a PT in general + focused sports a lot!
