When the cost of capital is 3-5x higher to do an energy project in #Africa, we can see why achieving any level of energy stability at affordable rates is such a massive effort. Thx @SemaforAfrica for highlighting this issue.

The cost of capital to build energy projects in Africa remains too high and could impede efforts at climate change adaptation. semafor.com/newsletter/10/…

Great roadmap out today from @IFC_org Our CEO @RyanOGradyCEO points out - private sector can lead us to these destinations, BUT it takes cost effective financing & strong access to capital to roll out the infrastructure for #digital opps across #Africa.

Good insight @IFC_org on #digital opps in #Africa. I keep circling back to: affordability & access go hand-in-hand. Achieving that needs more connections at lower prices. To get there takes competitive capex & financing costs to enable private sector to move at speed.

The road that connects each city & country, which carries our goods to market, is just as vital as the digital infrastructure that is essential for #development across #Africa. Harmonized tariffs & regulations enable faster growth & #affordable access. #digitalinclusion

Great article @SemaforAfrica Yes, we need more undersea cables to Africa. We also need more cables running between African countries to increase interconnectivity. This builds redundancy, drives competition, & lowers operating costs. Access is just as vital as affordability.
