#whatsjuliareading Tombland, the latest Shardlake Tudor whodunnit novel by C J Sansom. I have read all 7 back to back over the summer. So much fantastic, accurate historical detail surrounding great story telling and engaging characters.

Weirdly, noone I follow has mentioned this month's British Vogue cover. Despite the fact they feature a train driver. They (there are 3 versions) would be beautiful covers and stories at any time, but are particularly so right now vogue.co.uk/news/article/k… #beautyandtransport

Fantastic service, fantastic, expert, professionals. So crucial to making lives better for so many people. Miss you guys and gals.

#whatsjuliareading a classic - I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith of Pongo and Perdita fame with their 99 dalmatian pups. No sign of spotty dogs in this one.

#whatsjuliareading Andrew Taylor - The Kings Evil . 3rd in the series of whodunnit set in Restoration England with James Marwood, Cat Lovett and the sweet old Hakesby.

#whatsjuliareading Elena Ferrante neapolitan quartet. Just finished no. 3 and having a break. Not sure I really like the characters but they are believable, complex, flawed and human. Setting and society of southern italy in 1950s and 1960s really interesting. Recommended.

Good to see this being tackled. Imaginative new approaches needed. Bristol VCSE are strong partners for BCC

Really exciting session, with so many new links made, and fantastic to see how everyone is really up and ready for this.

#whatsjuliareading Rose Macaulay Crewe Train, Virago Modern Classics. Rather dated style, language and setting but I suppose that's part of being a classic! The story of a free spirit trapped in conventional life 'by love' (actually by marriage) is powerful and a bit depressing.

#whatsjuliareading Transcriptions by Kate Atkinson got mixed reviews but I really enjoyed it. I loved the characters & authentic historic setting. I whizzed through it so enjoyed the twist at the end which I hadn't fully anticipated. Still working through Dalrymple's The Anarchy.
