Hey, I just had this piece published in @Slate! Let me know what you think - maybe? Nordic countries always dominate global happiness rankings. The reason why has nothing to do with the welfare state or hygge. slate.com/news-and-polit… via @slate
You'll know there's a right-wing takeover of higher ed when the right has the power to make up their own fake research fields and shoehorn them into every inch of the academy. Until Yale advertises a job in Rush Limbaugh Studies, spare me the hysterics.
Some people worry about a right-wing takeover of higher ed where people teach Tocqueville. And then you see Penn is hiring a faculty member to specialize in "racial and intersectional microaggression prevention programming" and realize a takeover has already happened.

Donors and trustees should wake up, as state legislators have done, and recognize the damage that ideological uniformity does to the epistemic openness of university life. cityjourn.al/4fvirH8 via @joldmcginn

What makes the Amsterdam anti-Semitic riot particularly disturbing is that it did not occur in some distant, non-Western region but in the heart of “enlightened” Europe. cityjourn.al/48DD95r via @EFischberger
🎓 American universities aren't alone in the growth of groupthink on campus—Canadian universities are facing the same problems. Here's one McGill professor's diagnosis of the problem:
Suggestion for people outraged by this: Tag Dutch official Twitter accounts on this stuff. @NLatEU @NLintheUSA @NLinNY @NLAmbassadorUSA
At this moment Jews are being attacked in multiple locations in Amsterdam. I call upon the Dutch authorities to act NOW.
Perfect illustration of the disconnect between the Democratic Party and ordinary Americans.
Two days before the election, Harris refused to say if she backed prop 36, which upped crime/drug penalties in California. It passed with >70% support. Every single county voted for it. The Harris campaign was doomed by its perpetual appeasement of the fringe & radical left.

"We've had over two dozen women governors since 2000. Around half of them in red states."
Misogyny is a real thing. But it does not make sense as an explanation for Kamala's loss. In general, the American people have no problem electing women as executives. We've had over two dozen women governors since 2000. Around half of them in red states. On top of that, you'd…
There were people of every race & gender who voted for Kamala & people of every race & gender who voted for Trump Yes rates differ, but let’s not essentialize people & think these broad categories determine their vote or character We’ve been doing way too much of that recently
Lost somewhat in the noise - George Gascon lost in LA county and Pamela Price recalled in Alameda county. Those are two top-line progressive prosecutors biting the dust...in deep blue areas. A signal of the need to reassess strategies and messaging around criminal justice. The…
California has sent a loud and clear message against the progressive left “social justice” imposter prosecutors… Congratulations to @NathanHochmanDA and Los Angelinos for replacing imposter DA George Gascon. And congratulations to Alameda County voters for recalling imposter…
America has spoken. I really hope the chattering, professorial class doesn’t lead with the conclusion that America must be stupid, sexist, and racist to vote this way. Our country deserves a better conversation and path forward than that God bless America. 🇺🇸
Among the evening’s most meaningful results: California’s Proposition 36, which raises punishments for theft and drug-related crimes, is passing overwhelmingly. Voters blue and red are fed up with woke approaches to law and order.
I think Girls’ sports mean A LOT to people and we were arrogant Schools presenting gender transition ideas -in some places emphatically - rang a justifiably loud alarm. Immigration numbers and images really alarmed people - and we refused to listen
With Trump's landslide victory tonight, the Democrats will determine that the best response is to be even more dismissive of the people whose concerns they never bothered to try to understand in the first place.
Across the biggest metros—not just Miami, but also Chicago, NY, Dallas, Houston—Trump is improving on his 2020 margins by double digits. Often *more* than his improvement in rural areas. Some of these results are more complete than others, so caveat emptor, but: notable.
