I genuinely sobbed. Thank you to @kattwts, @yuzuruschin, and whoever else was involved with these banners. Nationals was a very lonely place to be as a survivor and it is deeply meaningful to realize how much support there is for survivors from the broader community. Thank you.

For better or worse, public health is a group project.

I just wrote a long thread about the confidentiality of reports to the Center for SafeSport and how much information they require about a victim before they will even initiate an investigation (and why that’s both a problem and difficult to solve) and Twitter ate it 😡

There are a few lessons from years of SafeSport advocacy and a walk with pediatric cancer that I’m leaning on to help me get through the morning, but they’re chased by another lesson from those journeys: things can always get worse, and in the most unpredictable ways possible 😕

I don’t have any idea where we go from here. My work on SafeSport and holding those who enable and condone SA accountable is going to look quaint in comparison to the enabling and condoning of SA when Title IX and women’s rights are gutted.

The Center for SafeSport rarely issues sanctions for Failure to Report. When they do, the sanctions rarely affect participation with the consequence neither findings nor sanctions are ever public. Non-public sanctions can include education, probation, letter of reprimand, etc.

IMO, the article only states that MF/IAM didn’t say that they filed the report (99% sure safesport isn’t allowed to confirm/deny). in order to show that she failed in her duty, safesport would have to confirm & IIRC that would only result in her us coaching lic. being revoked

Reporting sexual misconduct or even being a witness on behalf of a survivor in an allegedly confidential investigation is also career suicide within figure skating according to the lived experiences of many, although the TPTB would deny that of course.

it's obvious iam expected solene to stay quiet and maintain the line. they know going against them is career suicide so they use it to their advantage. they've proven time and time again athletes aren't their priority but gaining power definitely is.

In fall 2015, I said I'd start paying attention to the 2016 presidential election when Trump dropped out. It's been a long nine years...

I literally cannot think of a single point in time where I regarded Donald Trump as fit for office.

Wow, didn’t expect 23-24 compliance reports to raise a number of questions and answer none 🤔

It’s 2024. You’d think coaches and officials might have learned to refrain from posting support for coaches banned for abusing athletes…

Wanna know why “exceptions for rape & incest” are bullshit?? A THIRTEEN YEAR OLD WAS CHARGED WITH A CRIME FOR REPORTING SHE WAS RAPED BY HER FATHER. SIT WITH THAT.

#Florida teen raped by adoptive father is accused by cops of lying & prosecuted for filing false police report. So when it happened again, she gathered evidence on her own to prove that it DID happen. theledger.com/story/news/loc… via @garywhite13

Apparently we have the chance to save democracy AND twitter!

They're calling it the most effective Get-Out-the-Vote message in history.

Please stop telling the handful of people who are still masking that their mask isn’t good enough unless they’re specifically asking for suggestions.

It was never about protecting women’s sports. It was always about misogyny.

That rally tonight will be in the history books for decades - and if we don’t show up to vote, it will be in those history books as the moment the great American experiment with democracy fell to fascism. Chilling to watch this unfold in real time and realize how many support it.

I haven't said this often over the past eight years, but props to the New York Times

Spot on. Thank you, @nytimes
