Johnny Kenny has told @Independent_ie he will return from his Shamrock Rovers loan & begin to train with Celtic’s first-team on January 3, the day after the New Year Glasgow derby. “It’s my dream to play for Celtic,” said the striker. 20 goals & 4 assists for Rovers in 2024.

Great Johnny Kenny interview after he scored another two goals for Shamrock Rovers last night. His mentality is shown when he speaks about his Celtic return, stating he has to show Brendan Rodgers he’s ‘worth it’ & how his goals this year are now ‘gone’.

Having now played the same number of Champions League games (6) as last season, Celtic have more than doubled their points tally (9 compared to 4 last campaign). A draw tonight is far from a disaster. All they need to do now is defeat Young Boys under the lights at Parkhead.

After a late victory over Milan tonight, Atalanta have failed to win just 1 of their last 13 games: their UCL clash with Celtic. The Bhoys’ point in Bergamo gets more impressive as the weeks pass. It was arguably their best result & (defensive) performance of the season.

I’ve been critical of Greg Taylor at times but he made a real difference off the bench for Celtic tonight. His assist for the winner was sublime. Wonder whether he’ll eventually sign a new deal. Brendan Rodgers certainly wants him to, and rightly so!

Whether from the start or bench, Luke McCowan always impresses for Celtic. Three assists & a goal in the first half yesterday surely throws his hat in the ring for a start vs Aberdeen midweek. The £1m the Hoops paid for him looks like more of a bargain every time he plays.

People need to lay off this lad. Fair play to him for coming up with a well-researched, out the box question, especially when the most obvious ones had been already asked. Could’ve been worded more briefly, but that comes with experience. ‘X’ can be rather toxic at times, eh?

There’s nothing better to watch in football than a clinical counter attack. Nicolas Kuhn absolutely lashed that in. The German is now only 5 G/A’s off matching Jota’s best season in green and white. 😳

I’ve no doubt Arne Engels will come good for Celtic, just like Kuhn did. The Belgian wasn’t great tonight but after starting twice for his country during the break, you can partly see why. That shouldn’t negate the fact Bernardo needs to take his place in Wednesday’s lineup.

Brendan was in fine fettle this afternoon. Most notably touched on his contract, which expires in summer 2026 - it’s something that will be looked at next season. Stated how the move down south makes him appreciate life at Celtic more now because he knew what he missed.
