Thanks to @IrishTimes for publishing my letter criticising 'naming and shaming' of four national schools by @josephamadigan Minister Madigan should apologise to @scoilbhrideb for her unfounded, divisive comments. Hardly a coincidence that no schools on southside named and shamed.

Any attack on a public representative is utterly unacceptable and has no place in our society. I'm a candidate in Dublin West and was canvassing on Saturday. Being able to meet and speak to people in local communities is vital to our democracy. @labour irishtimes.com/crime-law/2024…

Good luck to St Oliver Plunkett's Senior Hurlers in the @DubGAAOfficial County Final today!

Proud to support the parents and students of Eriu Community College at their protest in Leinster House today. @Education_Ire plan to move Eriu CC across D15 grossly unfair. We need two new permanent buildings in Dublin 15 - one in Hollystown and one for Eriu in Ongar.

'Oh, shut up!' Ivana Bacik hits back at the Healy-Raes - 'I have no time for that nonsense'

Glad to represent @labour at today's @ifut event at @TLRHub @tcddublin and great that @ivanabacik supported the campaign. Next Govt must invest in higher education, allocate separate funding to natl pay agreements and tackle precarious working & casualisation. @ivanabacik @ifut

Ah c’mon @RAI_ie Blaming the minimum wage for restaurant closures is not on. Your workers have to live aswell No mention of huge housing costs, high leases. This is on Government. Closures are a major concern. There should be a response. But aim your ire at real culprits

The key question for Sinn Fein is why they didn't suspend Brian Stanley when a complaint was received? I mean, this matter has now been referred to Gardaí. So, why did they not suspend the whip without prejudice?

John Walsh Reposted

This morning’s interview with SF leader leaves far too many questions unanswered. If a political party believes its internal process takes priority over the criminal justice system, the public needs to know.

Brian Stanley is set to be removed from his role as Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee following his resignation from Sinn Féin at the weekend rte.ie/news/politics/…

It truly is. I don’t know how the world isn’t standing still at the horror.

After years in this business, I'm pretty hardened. I've seen many horrors. But watching people being burned alive last night, stretching out their hands for help. A man in a hospital bed with an IV attached going up in flames. It felt like a new horror, akin to a vision of hell.

An absolute farce that Budget 2025 has €9 million for mobile phone pouches but nothing for reduced class sizes and still fails to address the ongoing crisis in special education. Govt could start by reversing the cut of 68% in special education teachers for D15 schools @labour

John Walsh Reposted

€9 Million for phone pouches in schools. €9 Million. €9 Million. €9 Million. For what? For students to lock their phones away. €9 Million. Lockers? Leave at home? Just leave in their bags? Just not take out of their pockets? No. €9 Million worth of pouches. €9 Million.

Great to attend today's @NWCI #Every Child launch. Happy to support this important campaign - we desperately need a universally accessible system for early childhood education and care. @labour @NWCI

I've been around these premises long enough that you hopefully won't mistake me for woke, but the Haitian immigrant stuff is profoundly racist and you should substantially lower your esteem for anybody engaging in it.

Public funding for Irish Higher education fell by 38% between 2008 and 2016 & this funding collapse has never been replaced. Unis starved of regular recurrent funding. Once off projects & short term initiatives don't cut it. Lots of rhetoric from @SimonHarrisTD but no real action

Irish unis are behind due to poor staff/student ratio and infrastructure. Ireland is last in education funding in OECD out of 34 ‘fell most in Ireland Latvia and Mexico’. Can’t continue if Ireland is to be competitive. We are letting a generation down. oecd.org/en/publication…
