From this it looks as though #StormDarragh has just gone over Cumbria. Are you seeing winds going round to the North yet? Stay safe... bbc.co.uk/news/live/cwy4…

Big heads up for this one folks. It's not just the forecast wind strength of #StormDarragh that's a concern, but the unusually prolonged duration of damaging winds - several hours for many areas. Amber weather warnings issued.

#StormDarragh has been named and is forecast to bring very strong winds and heavy rain to the UK later on Friday and through the weekend #WeatherAware ⚠️

The extraordinary nature of #StormDarragh shown in this forecast for Holyhead, Anglesey. Severe gale to storm-force winds with 70+mph gusts extending over a 15 hour stretch, and from an unusual direction which increases threat of trees being toppled.

Wow - #StormDarragh looks to be promising northerly gales - sadly not from the direction in which UK trees tend to be more resilient. Here's a bit of the forecast chart for Saturday lunchtime: metoffice.gov.uk/weather/maps-a…

This shows vividly what we're about to be hit with on Saturday.... the #StormDarragh isobars really packing together as it gets closer:

#StormDarragh is currently brewing out in the Atlantic 👀 Here's the latest satellite imagery and it's development over the next couple of days 👇

Hi @HighwaysNWEST & @CumberlandRoads: there are still the temporary 40mph limit signs on the A66 near Threlkeld where the lorry crashed at the weekend. No visible work going on. Why still there 3 days later? When being removed please?

"It was a pleasantry, Justin. I appreciate you're not very familiar with the concept." Ouch! Well said Lillian, on #TheArchers

Just been chatting about this spectacular programme with @Mike_Zeller1 on @BBC_Cumbria Beautifully shot, taking me back to some amazing parts of the Hebrides, and showing others I'd like to visit. It's only available for a couple of weeks: bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episod…

Listening to this - I love the little insight from behind the scenes...

I think Aggers was right… I didn’t allocate enough time on the ⁦@BBCRadio4⁩ 1800 news for the amount of stupendous cricket packed into one day! bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0…

If that bloke on #nightsleeper can really make and sustain a long satphone call from inside a train, well away from the windows, he really is a tech wizard! Eh @MarcSettle & @NicholasGarnett ?

For most of my radio career I've hoped to report for @BBC_Cumbria from the #WestmorlandShow one day - the big show I used to attend when growing up nearby. Well today's the day! - interviews on @stephfinnon's show.

Interesting bit of insight into the way that many Cumbrian communities got their names.

Love this - the look on both their faces!

Still a classic. Ronald Reagan’s reply to a question about being old while being a President. Walter Mondale had to laugh. Mind, when Reagan left office he was four years younger than Biden is now.

Here's where & when to see the @rafredarrows over the East of Cumbria this afternoon. Due to cross the Scottish border about 1430 near Longtown, pass East of Carlisle and fly up the Eden Valley, leaving Cumbria about 1440 over Garsdale Head. military-airshows.co.uk/press24/redarr…
