I guess you could say they are feeling crabby... Pharaoh Cuttlefish (Acanthosepion pharaonis) do this unique arm posture and flapping technique which is thought to be them mimicking a hermit crab. I guess they got jealous of crustaceans having all the fun with carcinization.
The Squarespot Anthias (Pseudanthias pleurotaenia) is one of the most common species of anthias in the western Pacific. Yet, it's so incredibly beautiful that I probably photographed it hundreds of times! This is my best photo of it, taken in Bali. #ichthyology

Some polychaetes are bioluminescent; this sassy sparkler has protein structures in the bristles, making them iridescent. Polychaete means many bristles, and each body segment has a pair of fleshy protrusions called parapodia covered in bristles called chaetae. #ChileMargin2024
