Interesting to see this isolated holly tree supports Aphis ilicis (holly aphid), attended by Myrmica ruginodis ants. Species relationships like this one will be lost from this corrie when these last holly trees die.

A juvenile robin predating wood ants (Formica lugubris) in Tipperary a few weeks back, taking many directly off the nest surface. Great to observe a bird/wood ant interaction like this in Ireland.

All the adults on a mad one with racism and hate and the kids are just dancing.

A group of 9-12 year old kids from a community centre in Cork met up with kids living in refugee accommodation nearby. They made this track, & it’s gone viral; 📺 watch, & see why. 🔉 Sound up for💥The Spark, by the Kabin Crew & the Lisdoonvarna Crew 🇮🇪!

Over 100 guillemots + razorbills were found on beaches along Dublin, Wicklow, and Wexford with oil on their feathers. @OWResponse and @WildlifeKildare said they need thousands of litres of fresh water and more equipment to help clean oiled seabirds. Visit: bit.ly/4akg6vG

Watch this rare footage of a Guillemot laying an egg, filmed at Sumburgh Head today by Will Miles. The female Guillemot is tended by her partner throughout the event. The beautiful turquoise egg is finely patterned with black speckles.

We are extremely thankful to the Minister and NPWS for making this emergency funding available to aid us in our efforts. We also appreciate all the help and support that NPWS staff on the ground are giving us.

I am extremely concerned about the seabirds that have been found covered in oil along the East Coast. I have made emergency funding available to assist the rescue and rehabilitation effort. @NPWSIreland regional staff are also on the ground monitoring the situation.
