A Michigan House colleague phoned me Thursday to tell me he was withdrawing as a candidate for House re-election. I meant to tell him to wait until Friday to withdraw, to avoid eclipsing news out of the first round of the NFL Draft in Detroit. But I didn’t, and look what happened

I attended a lot of MLK, Jr. events today and tonight. Tonight I reminded those of us commemorating The Day in Albion what Dr. King was doing in Memphis in April, 1968: organizing sanitation workers. “1963 is not an end, but a beginning.” 2024 is still a beginning. Let’s work.
