I just got my schedule for teaching in public school after 9 years at international PYP schools and I’m in a panic. Will there be flexibility for play, inquiry, community building? Any advice or words of comfort from teachers who made a similar transition?

Today I took my class outside to play tag (then they asked to play duck duck goose which for G5 was an interesting choice) & it makes me remember the power of #play and how it helps to build community. We need to do it more often! #FIS

Grade 3 camp. The value can’t be underestimated. Students shine. They build relationships, independence, and connect with nature. Thinking how I can bring similar experiences to whatever school I go to next. (These pictures do not do camp justice.)

I can’t recommend this book enough.

Honored to read Sunday Times's lead review today, which calls Bring Back Our Girls “a brilliant investigation” that does an “incredible job of reconstructing life as captives of one of the worlds most deadly terrorist groups.” thetimes.co.uk/article/bring-…

If you’re after a book to read this weekend, Bring Back Our Girls w/ @JoeWSJ for @HarperCollins, is now an Amazon Editor’s Pick, listed among their top biographies & survival accounts. NPR calls it “gripping.” An attempt to understand just what happened after we all tapped tweet.

Seven years after the kidnapping of 276 Nigerian schoolgirls, a new book shares insights into their survival strategies — and looks at the mixed blessing of the "Bring Back Our Girls" campaign. trib.al/17vmcfl

Mark Cannella of Valentine Farm grows what he calls "spud love." With the help of family, friends and local nonprofits, he has donated several thousand pounds of potatoes to those in need in central Vermont. 7dvt.co/2OlRZbv

One day my first or second year of teaching, I decided that I was just going to let kids be kids. Nothing has revolutionized my teaching more than this. What’s been that one, game-changing realization for you?

Another great article about how Vermont schools are using this moment in history to embrace change and make progress in education. m.sevendaysvt.com/vermont/vermon…

I love this. It gives me hope that there are positive long term changes to how we teach to come out of our challenges right now. wcax.com/2020/09/18/how…

In addition to online learning provocations we are sending to students due to coronavirus school closings, we are also sending personal videos. Today Grade 3 decided to get creative. #ISHCMCib @wecanbeawesome @JessicaMcColly @Johnathan_JRP @ashleybmoreno @Korl101Karl
