Pell Grants help make college more affordable for millions of students across the country. As the cost of higher education continues to rise, I’ve introduced a bill to nearly double the Pell Grant maximum award & increase the purchasing power of Pell Grants for students.

The worst good news you can imagine: Pell Grant no longer faces imminent shortfall under @USCBO estimates, but that's largely due to about *half a million* fewer recipients than they projected last year on the heels of 24-25 FAFSA challenges. insidehighered.com/news/quick-tak…

Pell grants cover a lot less than they used to—which is why I introduced a bill to double the maximum award and ensure it keeps up with inflation. We need to ensure every student can pursue a higher education—no matter how much money their family has.

APLU joins the higher education community in urging @usedgov to commit to a traditional FAFSA launch date of October 1, 2024. A timely & transparent FAFSA process is crucial to providing all students with access to financial aid in the 2025-26 award year. bit.ly/3VmJLyE
