Same for postdocs

When recruiting new faculty, if you look at them as little packets of indirects and not as fully realized people, you’re going to spend a lot of time wondering why your master plan is not working.

Brief musings on honey bees and the mites and viruses that love them, from Zac Lamas' PhD work, frontiersin.org/journals/bee-s…

Thanks @seanthenewsboy for highlighting #honeybees and the work of @USDAScience ! 🐝, @BeeCulture .

A beekeeper gold medalist, how fun! Thanks for this series of notes between food researchers and Olympic athletes, @USDA_ARS !

What do you enjoy after winning a Gold Medal? 🥇 U.S. Olympic Rower Michael Grady likes honey! See Grady surprise ARS Entomologist Jay Evans with a shoutout for his research on bees and honey! loom.ly/BnS5jRY Cheer #TeamUSA|#Paris2024

A challenging genome in part because it seems to drop and copy chromosomes in real time, part of the awesome PhD work by @lindssci_twt

Check out our new genome note preprint that starts to scratch the surface of the dynamic changes in chromosome copy number that Lotmaria passim employs. Now that this one is in the books, stay on the lookout for more to come! @JayDEvans88

wherein we argue that things were better in the past, at least for the taxonomy of nosema parasites in bees.. authors.elsevier.com/c/1jHfI534Q71Hy

Cool program showing how in-place and small-scale #beekeeping can lead to stable and equitable local businesses.

Today (April 2nd) marks four years since the untimely passing of James Taylor (@jxtx), Professor of Biology and Computer Science at @JohnsHopkins and one of the founders of Galaxy. To honor James, we have established the @jxtxFoundation for open-science (jxtxfoundation.org).

This was a fun collaboration with some bright commercial folks. While we were only 1/318th of the workflow, it gave some nice insights into the search for #honeybee antivirals. nature.com/articles/s4159…
