"However, daunting it might be, as a composer, I cannot deny the satisfaction of writing an opera.” We had a wonderful first performance of ‘Gaṅgā’ last Saturday as part of @WAFfringe 2023. Here are some action shots from this brilliant evening by the fantastic Julian Guidera.
Our first delegation visit to @allaboutmusicin in Mumbai was great. Our Relationship Manager for Asia, @Jataneel, spoke about PRS, our Nexus programme, and how we join the dots for music makers worldwide. Huge thanks to Atul Churamani and the team for their hospitality.
17 days and over 130 events later, and that's a wrap for #WAF2023! 🥳 It's been packed full of laughter and inspiring (and outrageous) moments and we hope you've loved it! ✨Let us know what you thought: bit.ly/WAF_Survey23 #wandsworthculture
Wowed by this showing of Ganga, a chamber opera in development at @natoperastudio . Performed in Sanskrit & with a choir of Hindu priests it was beautifully written and produced by @Jataneel (Jataneel Banerjee). Highly recommend. Part of @WAFfringe #acesupported
While the story of the Mahabharata is mostly narrated based on the male characters, 'Gaṅgā' depicts the tale driven by a female character. More infos and tickets: wandsworthfringe.com/whats-on-2023/… #WAF2023 #WandsworthArtsFringe #wandsworth #london #sanskritopera #opera #sanskrit
An important part of creating an opera is to understand the individual roles and characters and how they connect with each other to narrate a great story. 'Gaṅgā' - a saga of heartbreak, promises and love 17 & 25 June @WAFfringe #WAF2023 #london #sanskritopera #opera

The first opera in Sanskrit: @Jataneel Banerjee's Ganga at the Wandsworth Arts Fringe @WAFfringe at @natoperastudio My preview: planethugill.com/2023/05/the-fi… @wandbc
Opera lovers, have you ever heard an opera sung entirely in Sanskrit language? My new chamber opera ‘Gaṅgā’ is based on the original Sanskrit text from one of India's greatest epics - The Mahābhārata (by Veda Vyasa). TICKETS: wandsworthfringe.com/whats-on-2023/… #opera #london #Sanskrit
Although the story of Gaṅgā is an Indian one, the musical influences for the new opera premiering this June as part of @WAFfringe come from both, the Indian classical music and the Western classical music. #WAF2023 #WandsworthArtsFringe #wandsworth #london #opera
Meet Michael… an amazing artist who helps me bring my Sanskrit opera ‘Gaṅgā’ to life. “The writing process with Jataneel is very organic. He has a clear vision for what he wants to achieve and it’s a joy helping him to reach these goals.” #chamberopera @WAFfringe
