Started from Borivali (W) by car at 3:30pm and reached Kalina at 5:50 pm. This was possible only because I continued on S.V Rd & avoided WEH which Google maps insisted I take. Something is horribly wrong on WEH both ways. Not sure how long #spiritofmumbai is going to last…

Our colleagues @Janvi_G, @bhakti_vardam, @Shilaji38857702 and Kavya B write for @TheLeaflet_in' special issue on #MayDay. The article explores the multi-dimensional shocks and vulnerabilities faced by #migrantworkers in metro cities during the last two years of #pandemic.

The authors provide an evidence-based narrative to explore the stories of systemic exclusion, dread and misinformation of millions of #migrantworkers in India through the #pandemic, and in their current state of macroeconomic distress. @AajeevikaBureau theleaflet.in/migrants-livel…

I can promise you that amazon banning these words/phrases from their company chat app just radicalized a bunch of workers who were on the fence about needing a union lmao

Go, Mama!

I finished my PhD in less than 4 and a half years during which I had 2 children. What I’m most proud of? That I never ever, not even once, worked on the weekend. In academia, working too much is praised but it’s the breaks we should celebrate! #IchbinHanna #phdvoice @Momademia

1.25 crore applications for 35,281 #IndianRailway jobs. That’s 354 applicants per job. For every person selected, 353 will not be. Not because of reservations but because there aren’t enough jobs. Even after short listing 7 lakhs, there’s 1 job/20 people #unemployment #createjobs

The Productivity Paradox Work longer, get less done. Parkinson's Law says that work expands to fill the time available for its completion. When you establish fixed hours to your work, you find unproductive ways to fill it. Work like a lion instead—sprint, rest, repeat.

David Card (Labour Economics): • The economic impact of new immigrants is minimal. • the minimum wage increase do not result in job reduction of fast food companies (New Jersey case). • unemployment rates and wages for the labor market were unchanged by influx of immigrants.

This very aspect makes the experience so rich and transformative!

It's a lot of mental load to just adjust and relearn everything in a new country without even thinking about the actual thing you came to do (study, work, etc).
