It has finally come to the time of year for one of my favorite assignments! After studying morality and ethics (reading from Plato to MLK), we end our semester by watching Terrence Malick's A Hidden Life (2019). Thanks for the inspiration for a fantastic assignment @amber_bowen

Happy Birthday @wdavidotaylor! Thankful for your life and ministry. Your work is purposeful, your words are meaningful, and your worship is beautiful. Today is a day we hope you feel extra loved and celebrated! HBD!

“I am not bound for any public place, but for ground of my own where I have planted vines and orchard trees, and in the heat of the day climbed up into the healing shadow of the woods.” — W.B. Feels good to escape the “heat of the day” and be in the “healing shadow of the woods”

A prayer for Easter Sunday: to the One who would make dry bones lives and make streams appear in the wastelands of our lives. Christos Anesti!

Χριστὸς ἀνέστη ἐκ νεκρῶν, θανάτῳ θάνατον πατήσας, καὶ τοῖς ἐν τοῖς μνήμασι, ζωὴν χαρισάμενος!

It is truly a thing of beauty to hold this one in my hands today. Spent a long time waiting on this one. Grateful for the brilliant mind and pastoral heart of @wdavidotaylor! Excited to learn from him a bit more about what it means to be human.

Teaching on consequentialist ethics and we read a bit from Mill. After we read this opening line, I went on a long (and very important) tangent explaining blunders, chess, and how you never play f6. You’d be so proud, @dannyhills33

The spiritual does not deconstruct the natural; it transfigures it.

It is an intellectual virtue to follow truth wherever it leads, even if it means admitting being wrong.

“Do you see this woman?” (Lk. 7:44) This question from Jesus is loaded with meaning. I cannot stop thinking of it. O Lord, our Christ, give me eyes to see today. Both You and others. Amen.

Theology 101: Flashy, emotional revivalism results in "glow-in-the-dark" commitments that fade when removed from the artificial light.

Reading teacher evals from students will have you going from extremely encouraged to dangerously depressed in a matter of moments. Whew! The Lord is humbling me and drawing me to himself today. Let me tell ya.

Hey @edwards_linds guess what?! 😬 This finally came in and I’m so excited! It may take awhile to get through, but I’m eager to chat about it!

“Through him we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name…” Rom 1:5 I cannot stop thinking about the phrase ‘bring about the ὑπακοὴν πίστεως’ (obedience of faith). Whew. I am choosing to dwell on this for a while.
