Now on Bluesky with the same handle.

Had a lovely flight with @porterairlines back to Winnipeg after a difficult week personally. The upgrade to Porter Reserve was a nice touch.

It was an unexpected privilege to be nominated as a 'Community Hero' for my efforts with @poppyscotland, though I feel like so many others do much more impressive work. It was a pleasure to chat with @IanMurrayMP about my work at @HCAatEdinburgh as well as my fundraising.

Huge congratulations to Alex Imrie on his well-deserved Community Hero Award! For the past 25 years, Alex has been a familiar face in Edinburgh every November, rain or shine, volunteering with Poppyscotland to support veterans and their families.

Today for the final day of the Northern Great Plains History Conference, I am attending a sessional on American Social Policy, with one paper on Project Equality in Minnesota and the other citizenship loss of American women due to marriage.

And on the next panel, another @umanitoba @UMArtsFaculty @UM_Classics student (and @uofm_csc member) spoke on Roman tattoos.

This afternoon there is an ancient Rome panel at the Northern Great Plain History conference. All the speakers are from @umanitoba @UMArtsFaculty, either @UM_Classics students (and @uofm_csc members) or Faculty, with papers on Agrippa, Roman forts, and military discipline.

I am at the Northern Great Plains History conference (which now hosts a few ancient history panels) in @CitySiouxFalls, hosted by @SDState This morning I am chairing a session on Early Christianity.

I feel that they were mocking me somehow.

I had a not unpleasant morning working through some Sallust fragments. 🧐

Footnotes are often held up as symbols of academics' pompousness and pedantry, but this is unfair. We also use them to exercise our hobby horses and throw shade on our enemies

Greetings from @UNOmaha, where I am at the Alexander the Great conference. I am speaking on Alexander stratagems in Frontinus.

It is a pretty good day when writing about Plutarch (in this instance, Crass. 26.4), one can insert cross-references to Virgil (Aen. 9.465-502) and Homer (Il. 18.176-177). 🧐 #plutarch #crassus
