One of the biggest learnings I've had after coaching for 10+ yrs is that most people don't actually want to stop suffering - more often than not they want to do everything they can to keep suffering so long as it justifies not having to face the other thing they're more afraid of

You can’t kill your ego, you can only stack it like firewood and burn it on an altar to what truly moves you

Our ambitions are a gift. It is our ongoing work to be worthy of them

Life is a great daily practice

Founding fathers of the US integrated excellence across philosophy, military, commercial, agricultural and mystical capabilities to birth something extraordinary together That’s what greatness looks like when transitioning from one world system to another

Does it count as “not scaling” if it turned out that the people who invented geometry and calculus and most other fundamental breakthroughs in how humans interact with the world turned out to be major mystics?

Some people see mystical practices profoundly transforming lives, and want to bring it to everybody and change the entire world. It never works because mysticism doesn't scale.

I wake up every day astounded by three things - that there is something rather than nothing - that I am able to imagine that as a question - that I live at a time when the capabilities of my species have changed more in a 100 years than the rest of its history combined

Yes. I’m confused why the sloshy liquidity and VC proliferation hasn’t led to more innovation on early stage funding structures that aren’t built on VC assumptions There’s many valuable types of businesses to be built and I don’t think the funding ecosystem has caught up

vc is for funding and building transformational technology. if you're not improving something by 10x, you probably aren't building a startup.

Yes. For the most part, health is about improving taste more than improving discipline

I see almost no tradeoff between short term pleasure and long term health. I think eating healthy, meditation, socializing, exercising, learning all feel good now and are also good for later. meditation took a while to get good, others started that way

I want to coach JD. Who wants to connect us

Fascinated by (and going through) one of those stages of mastering a craft where levelling up feels mostly like a wave of incompetence- like learning a language or an instrument and you suddenly realize how many things you *could* be expressing that are just outside your grasp

Multiple things The most legible for the intellect being the slow motion expiry of the post ww2 world order Welcome to the time between worlds

It's almost like there's something bigger going on.

Slowly opening to the possibility that the fires of transformation can show up as joy rather than suffering
