Almost every single state that banned trans people from playing sports went on to ban healthcare for trans youth. This issue is a trojan horse meant to codify the otherness of trans people into state law.
There is a push among some orgs, "moderate" legislators, and even trans people to "give up the sports issue" in hopes that will stop hate. I have watched moderates try this in 23 state houses. It doesn't work. There's no amount of give you can offer that stops them from taking.

I honestly believe decline in literacy standards is the most worrying trend we’re seeing in the west. I don’t think people have grasped how serious this is. It affects everything. And once literacy is sufficiently degraded, ppl can no longer understand why it’s a problem.

A literate population is a basic requirement for a modern society to function: this is even more basic that dealing with misinformation, it’s essential to interact with basic services, understand safety instructions, apply for benefits, read recipes.
