ONE ANNOUNCEMENT, FOUR BLOKES, 17 FALSEHOODS A #auspol thread on four senior members of the Coalition and their repeated falsehoods about nuclear reactors 👇

This 👇is a wild thread where, in response to AEMO finding SA the most stable part of the electrical grid, anti-RE/pro-nuk howled down SA interconnectors. Meanwhile Ontario nuclear - Dutton’s go-to example - relies on interconnections for grid stability & cost effectiveness.

AEMO finds that the state with the most renewables and no ‘baseload’ power also has the most system strength. If that is the case, why do we need nuclear? reneweconomy.com.au/south-australi…

This Independent unbiased modelling out this week shows the energy transition to renewables “would lower total household energy expenditure by nearly $1,000 per year” in coming years. Don’t let the vested interests take them away from you. aemc.gov.au/news-centre/me…

The Coalition nuclear energy plan is that thin red line. By capacity, 4% of projected capacity? By demand, maybe 13-20% of demand? By emissions, very late, so 3x AEMO Step Change. By cost, nuk can only increase price of electricity and download construction costs to taxpayers.

Renewables need less energy: Electricity generation ~2x less (by not throwing heat in coal and gas away). Heating ~3x less (by using heatpumps that make 3 kWh heat from 1 kwh electricity) Cars ~4× less (combustion engines waste ~80% of energy)

Have we been duped by the primary energy fallacy? Critics of renewables often say that we cannot possibly replace the vast amount of fossil fuel we currently use with clean energy. The good news is that we don’t have to. medium.com/@jan.rosenow/h…

Aussie farmers are used to punching above their weight and that’s exactly what they’re doing at COP too, spruiking our decarbonisation and agriculture innovations and promoting Australian farm and farmers to the world.

Never forget: Kevin McCarthy said, “I'll give you the truth why I'm not speaker. It's because one person, a member of Congress, wanted me to stop an ethics complaint because he slept with a 17-year-old.” That member is Matt Gaetz.

First of these Windrose E1400 big rigs should hit New Zealand in a few weeks. During a test run in China, one got 2253 km fully loaded (49 tonnes) with 2 rapid charges. The trucking industry is ripe for electrification but I suspect many DieselBros ain't gonna like it! 😂

Bullets are the number one cause of death of children in the US. Medical bills are the number one cause of bankruptcy in the US. Neither is close to being true in Australia. We do things differently. Some LNP politicians championing US politics might like to remember that.
