The Book of Eve by Constance Beresford-Howe, from 1973, is a masterpiece w a simple premise: an older woman suddenly leaves her husband. It goes Dostoevsky deep; it’s funny, poignant; just incredible. Those sentences! I’ve dogeared the hell out of my copy. #booktwitter
