Today, @atlcouncil can vote to approve long-term funding for @PADatlanta Even though Mayor Dickens’ secret procurement failed, some councilmembers report that he is still not willing to fund PAD long-term.
It’s possible that the City looking to replace @PADatlanta with a unit entirely run by the police: the APD CARE UNIT. Here’s a recent media piece, where APD co-opts PAD’s language: livablebuckhead.com/introducing-at…
The CARE unit—with staff less than half the size of PAD—has a budget of $1.3m with most of the money being allocated for “personnel services.”
