Why does PBOC want to sell CGB when inflation is subdued and real estate market is in peril? Not much is linked to LT rates in China - I get it. But still why? Just for face?

#China's 10-year interbank active bond yield once jumped by 0.6 Bps to 2.3% in the afternoon session. #PBOC said paying close attention to current bond market changes and risks, said could sell low-risk bonds to the market when necessary, as diversion of bank deposits to the bond…

Apparently someone else who failed to understand how will an ETF supports in-kind redemption will change the game…

Latest on HK spot Bitcoin ETFs: They have been approved to exist but not launch (yet). Rumor has it launching next wk so to not compete w Dubai conf. Don't expect a lot of flows (I saw one estimate of $25b that's insane). We think they'll be lucky to get $500m. Here's why: 1. HK…

Recession is probably the best outcome now. Without a recession, interest rates have to stay high and will only cause greater damage across asset classes. Current asset prices can’t survive 4% LT UST yield. Elon doesn’t seem to understand that.

If the Fed raises rates again next week, the recession will be greatly amplified

The current COVID saga in Chinese cities highlights how clumsy local govs are... Local officials are afraid of reporting cases yet don't have the financial/manpower resource to implement lockdowns anymore just like in Baoding. Gov figures on infection in China are useless now.

The pivot came much sooner than we all expected. What accelerated it? The social unrests? Xi’s venture overseas? We might never know.

Given today’s news of Shijiazhuang and the official rhetoric shift from zero COVID, it looks like China has set sail its journey co-living with COVID. The shift comes even sooner than what I expected.

A thread here for those who don't understand why the China protests over the weekend protests are so shockingly rare. Surveillance. In. China. Is. Extreme. Think you could evade Chinese police? Let's walk through it:

It’s such a shame that we went to the same school now… Veritas.

Do people still believe that Chairman Rabbit represents the "reasonable" pro-China voices?

Lol: A: internet cutoff coming B: relax, then PCR tests/health codes can’t continue bc all the measures of control relies on Internet. (要封网络了?担心什么,那就健康码没用了核酸也不用做了😂)

PCR locations have reopened in Shijiazhuang. It seems local officials are stranded with panic citizens. Guess we can only do one thing at a time, and let’s start with education the public first.
