We mourn the passing of Ella Jenkins, one of the most iconic folk musicians of the 20th century, who revolutionized children’s music and inspired generations of listeners around the world. She died peacefully on Nov. 9 at her residence in Chicago, Illinois. She was 100 years old.

It is November 2024. Queens native Donald Trump just won the national election. Prospect Park is engulfed in smoke and ash. New York City is under a historic drought watch. The fountain in Washington Square Park continues to run. The vibes are completely off but Gotham endures.

Is incredibly difficult to move around inside Gaza and to reach those in need here. Getting aid into and around Gaza is a vast, bureaucratic & logistical challenge. We must have a ceasefire, and we must have access, so that we can reach those in truly desperate need.

Democrats lost because for years, they claimed the economy was booming when people couldn’t afford things, ran on codifying Roe after it was overturned during a Democratic trifecta, then they funded a genocide while campaigning with Liz Cheney. The blame lies there.

The only thing Harris said she would’ve done differently than Biden is appoint a Republican to her cabinet

NEW—Some 20% of Democrats & independents in WI, AZ, MI, PA, and MN say Biden’s handling of the war on Gaza makes it less likely they'll vote for him. ~40% say a permanent ceasefire & conditioning aid to Israel would make them more likely to vote for him.theintercept.com/2024/05/21/dem…

Gaza is one of the most horrific tragedies of our time; man-made, Israel-made, US-made. If you’re ok with this stuff, you’re a sociopath.

One doctor who volunteered in Gaza said that morgue workers are weighing body parts: "So 70 kilograms is one body because they will just get brought in bits of bodies." theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

"There is no intention of allowing the residents of the northern Gaza Strip to return to their homes" - IDF Clearing out one ethnic group of people to replace them with another. The very textbook definition of ethnic cleansing. What more will it take for you to speak out?

Palestinians will not be allowed to return to homes in northern Gaza, says IDF dlvr.it/TG2dw1

today i offered space and time for students to speak or be quiet. then they agreed they wanted to make things so i taught them the steenbeck and moviola and how to edit analog 16mm film and they recorded audio & live mixed to their found footage film by the end of class

In Germany, it is your constitutional right as a citizen to criticise the German government. But now if you criticise the Israeli government, even for violating the statues of international law to which Germany is a signatory, you can be stripped of your citizenship.

🟡 BREAKING: Germany passed a new resolution that seeks to punish criticism of Israel with withdrawal of citizenship. Here’s what you need to know.

A lot of NYC locals are coping by blaming gentrifiers. Habibi, gentrifiers in the Brooklyn and Queens waterfront neighborhoods are one of the reasons why it wasn’t a complete red blowout. Another hard truth: NYC’s Trump voters are white ethnic native New Yorkers and immigrants.

30% of New York City voters casted their ballots for Trump. Have we processed this yet?

264 days ago, I asked State Department why the US was ready to stop funding UNRWA for allegations against .04% of its staff — but not the Israeli military given systematic allegations of human rights violations. State: The question has a false equivalency

US letter to Israel 3 weeks ago: We're concerned about you banning UNRWA. We ask you to not let this happen. Doing so "could have implications" under US law. Israel today:

Please understand that this platform is about to become the very least reliable source of information in the aggregate if Trump starts losing tomorrow. Coup Two requires people to feel "robbed" and Musk is going to go into overdrive making the MAGAs feel that.

The Museum of the City of New York has an awesome new exhibition on Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman in Congress and first to run for President. She’d be 100 this year. I’m a trained guide at the museum so don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like a tour. It’s very timely!

Greta could’ve chosen to just be a climate darling, and not put a target on her back. But instead she’s choosing to use her voice to call out the evils of imperialism. Which is how you know she’s a real deal environmental activist—she sees the interconnectedness of these issues.

Oh! And by @GovRonDeSantis made it ILLEGAL to feed people or give them water while they wait in line. Conveniently the places with the longest lines are also the places he doesn’t want people to vote at amazing how that works

The lines to vote at the University of Central Florida are 2 to 3 hours long and have been for the past week. Meanwhile, at other early voting locations with older populations it’s 10 minutes. ⁦@OCFElections⁩ is suppressing the youth vote. This is election interference.

Read that sentence. Israel is killing a *child* in Gaza every hour.

Look at the totality of Israel's conduct, in the totality of the land it unlawfully occupies, against the totality of the Palestinian people living there. And when you see how children, in particular, are targeted in so many depraved ways - through killing, maiming, starving,…
