i understand your viewpoint, but... robots can be people, too! there's plenty of robots out there in the world by now living lives that any of us could lead. hardships exist for them, too... that mindset included!
See, that's what worries me. I've seen The Terminator enough times to know how this kind of thing ends. It's always "Oh, we can make the robots our friends" right until they try to wipe us all out. And as sure as I am that I can take 'em on, I'd still prefer to not have to.

there's been several points where i've tried that, but... that's the thing about that intricate programming i mentioned. it overrides any attempt of redemption or even rebellion. the rebellion part is new, though.

That sounds like the android version of saying someone has a good personality when you ask them if they look nice. "Are they a handsome robot?" "Uh...well they've got cool data."
it... depends. metal sonic has a lot of intricate programming and an ability to adapt to his given task. however, doesn't really mean he's well-built... he's got cool data, though.
