A great study day exploring theological reflection for mission and ministry with these rather brilliant people. Much laughter, much thoughtful engagement and much hope for future ministries deeply engaged with theology, the Holy Spirit and the stories of the people we serve.

It was moving to celebrate some of our students being licensed & commissioned for lay ministry & honouring the memory of one beautiful soul who sadly was missing. One of the best parts of my job is walking with these people who constantly inspire & give me hope for the future.

Listening to the Bad Manors podcast with @HonourableTom while walking alone down dark streets in the rain was probably not the best idea this evening. Much better listening now safely home with chocolate.

Main achievement of the day. Finally mastering how to print booklets on the new work printer just in time for our quiet afternoon tomorrow.

Wonderful to be starting the new academic year with our @CofEWinchester ordinands and LLM trainees. Looking forward to a weekend of fellowship, study, worship and plenty of cake!

Great to join online for an interview with @Jdcrawf about his beautifully written book ‘Wild Scotland’. I loved the invite to slow down, engage with the local landscape and be open to imagining the stories of the ordinary people who have inhabited & shaped those places over time.

‘There was an estate near by that belonged to Publius, the chief official of the island. He welcomed us to his home and showed us generous hospitality for three days’ Acts 28.7 Lovely to visit the place Paul is believed to have preached in whilst shipwrecked.

Marking a cracking set of doctrine essays is a great end to the year. It is such a privilege to see students who were so nervous at the beginning of the year begin to flourish in theological study and relating it to their ministry.

A peaceful Sunday. Worship with a precious community and the quiet of riverside reflection.

A brilliant first day at the @commonawards conference focusing on mental health. Great input & very helpful conversations. Very struck by the call from both sessions to be a community which gives people back their stories, their value & their worth. Reminding them they are loved.

Sometimes I wonder if Herodotus or Thucydides ever sat in a performance at the theatre and thought "This is not historical." *arms crossed*

A brilliant final Doctrine and History study day with our fantastic first year students including our youngest doctrine scholar at just 4 months old! Great to reflect on the work of the Holy Spirit and the life of the church.

“Those of us who have been true readers all our life seldom truly realise the enormous extension of our being which we owe to authors…My own eyes are not enough for me, I will see through those of others. Reality…is not enough, I will see what others have invented.” C.S Lewis

Most important task of the day done ✅ #GeneralElection24

‘seeing how literature has explored, confronted, challenged, mocked, and unpicked borders demonstrates, continually, that that the forms they take are not, in fact, eternal…they are not inevitable. Borders are always there to be rewritten.’

See John Lanchester’s novel ‘The Wall’ - and this piece I wrote for @lithub on how literature has continually explored, confronted, challenged, mocked, and unpicked borders… lithub.com/every-border-i…

Sign it is time to stop marking for the day: starting to write the comment ‘I like the way you have thinked about…’

A lovely weekend celebrating some of our students who were ordained priests and deacons yesterday and today. Inspiring people, joyful services, hope for the church and a reminder that God is faithful. @CofEWinchester @Revdangi @hillchr1s @pmounstephen @DavidGWilliams

Inspiring today to feedback on some formative assessments from our first year students reflecting on three different artworks depicting the Trinity. So much creativity and imagination in the ways they were applying their learning.
