This morning I was out in #Bilborough with local councillor, @HelenKalsi thanking residents for their support in the recent general election and listening to their views. We picked up issues for action and heard about a wide range of issues, both local and national.

This is the Nottingham that I want to see. One that invests in our people and their skills, delivers on enterprise, new infrastructure and better connectivity, and raises our city’s aspirations in how we experience Nottingham every day and much-needed regeneration.

Labour's number 1 mission in the election was economic stability so we can grow our economy. In Nottingham, we want to grow our economy too by working with stakeholders, creating jobs and bringing in investment. You can read our Economic Growth Plan here: nottinghamcity.gov.uk/information-fo…

In a week where his own party leader was called a ‘P*ki’, @RobertJenrick has yet to condemn racist comments at the Newark hustings or turn down an endorsement of a far right candidate. Those seeking high office should reject those who stoke division. newarkadvertiser.co.uk/news/amp/elect…

Tories so desperate to get any flight to Rwanda before elections that they just paid one person to volunteer. An extortionate pre-election gimmick costing UK taxpayers half a billion pounds. Should be putting that money into boosting our border security

Absolutely shameless. Last week a serving Police Officer told me how angry and disgusted they feel that the person responsible for overseeing @nottspolice doesn’t respect the law. nottinghampost.com/news/local-new…

This is symptomatic of the gross underfunding our primary care services have suffered under the Tories. Practices are overstretched, and it’s time the NHS got some real investment. Early intervention saves money, but more importantly, saves lives nottinghampost.com/news/nottingha…

Happy @WorldBookNight📚🌙 Hoping that everyone will support @CllrDavidMellen & my @NG_Labour colleagues reading in schools across Nottingham to raise money for @DollysLibrary, delivering a book a month to children, age 0 - 5, who need it most. gofundme.com/f/big-reading-…

Today we are launching the Big Reading Challenge in support of the Nottingham Imagination Library, which gives books to children from birth to 5 years old. @CllrDavidMellen explains why this is so important. Please donate at gofundme.com/f/big-reading-…

Tory MPs just voted to insist that Afghan interpreters who served British armed forces can be sent to Rwanda. A scheme which costs £2m per asylum seeker. A £500m+ scheme for less than 1% of asylum seekers. Which now includes those who worked with our troops Shameful & shambolic

Commons will vote again today on whether to send Afghans who served alongside British armed forces to Rwanda. People who put their lives at risk helping UK & who UK Govt promised to help in return. Truly, truly shameful that Tory MPs are insisting they go. Govt must rethink
