Such a good idea this!
Govt biodiversity schemes for new development completely miss cavity nesting habitat despite its increased loss &the fact that endangered birds rely solely on building cavities to breed. Blindingly obvious, solved with a simple brick. Come on @michaelgove it's not rocket science
You may have been hearing the term ‘carbon removals’ in climate discussions. But what exactly are carbon removals, and how can they help us fight climate change? 🤔 @SevimAktasEU breaks everything down in 90 seconds. #EUClimateAction #EUCarbonRemovals
Govt's flagship heat pump policy delayed Time was tight to get the Statutory Instrument laid by 1st Apr But seems like no. 10 ducking the big decisions despite DESNZ Ministers pushing for it to go ahead Can only really be in response to dodgy lobbying from 'big boiler'
Comment from @jessralston2: "The Secretary of State and no. 10 have clearly given in to 'big boiler' manufacturers, which Claire Coutinho herself accused of 'price gouging' just a few months ago": eciu.net/media/press-re…
Wise and fair as ever. Shame our national debate can't be like this and instead has to be to always be framed around political dividing lines in the media. Even now on purely technocratic questions. Sunak &c. won't be thanked by history for that. The policy itself. Maybe
There will be a lot of noises off about unabated gas in the future UK energy system today. Now, I'm not saying that things get framed for politics, but I am saying it's a general election year and that gas should/will not the most significant thing on energy policy today...
This is a worry. We need Long Duration Energy Storage to get going sharpish e.g. hydrogen stores and other low-carbon storage to provide flex when the wind stops blowing Encouraging new gas plant (which I'm not totally opposed to) at the expense of LDES seems a high price to pay
I will look forward to more details, but as it stands this seems like a rather bad and distortive way of delivering this objective. Rather than higher cost gas being pushed out of merit, LDES will be instead. /17
Brilliant!

This is a really great podcast. Shows (again) why getting proper (third party) monitoring into the future homes standard and Home Energy Model so the supply chain (not homeowners) are on the line for design OR install mistakes is crucial!
How To Deal With a Heat Pump Nightmare – we discuss the short fallings of MCS, consumer codes and certification bodies in protecting homeowners from subpar heat pump installations. shows.acast.com/getting-heated…
Good to see the campaign of predatory delay against heat pumps being orchestrated by @mikefosterEUA and @energyutilities being called out in the House of Lords and roundly condemned by @energygovuk minister Lord @MartinCallanan Will the EUA board act? Or do they approve?
The Government's Energy Minister Lord @MartinCallanan calls boiler manufacturers a "disgrace" for funding the EUA, a trade body that has waged a misinformation campaign on heat pumps in @UKHouseofLords today. #heatpumps
Lots of attention grabbing fluff around today to befuddle editorially challenged news teams. Lee Anderson defection. Kensington Palace photoshopgate. But the really interesting story is @instituteforgov Centre report instituteforgovernment.org.uk/publication/po…

Last winter, France launched a 15-point "energy sobriety" plan to combat the #energycrisis. @Ariane_lis and @st_pye explore what can be learned from France’s experiment which asked households to lower electricity consumption during peak times. lght.ly/dh4h1ck
Across Germany in the '20s, if one could pay the fee for a wireless receiver, one could also listen to a young Dr. Walter Benjamin reading from plays, opining on the remaking of modern urban space, and finding ways to fill the air with his voice. bit.ly/43Z5aQH
