Teachers can spend every second of the day being productive and still feel like they are not doing enough. We need more realistic expectations or more prep time. Preferably both.

When I taught HS we used to ask what the MS teachers were doing with their time Now that I teach MS I know. Surviving. That’s what MS teachers are doing It’s all a mess, y’all. Everyone is doing their level best to get some educating accomplished. Just back off the blame game
If you fuss at a kid publicly, try to give them an *equally* public chance at redemption (or some other reminder that it’s all love) the SAME period. Call on them, joke with them, smile at them, etc Our brains are set up to remember how things end. It’s important to end well.
Frequent advice to new teachers is “build better relationships.” That’s vague and almost impossible to act on. Experienced teachers: what’s one *actionable* practice a new teacher can try tomorrow?

I’m curious. Our Congressional Delegation goes to the border several times for photo ops to remind us of the crisis. Who will be flying to Georgia? Isn’t our kids getting shot a crisis? We can still have guns and protect our kids. Why is everything too hard to fix for you all?
