“Hitting the wall” refers to the point that an individual has lost much of their carbohydrate storage, and this forces the body to begin using fats for the work being done.

The Mass Action Effect means that the more of the substrate you have available, the more you will use that substrate for metabolism. Therefore, if you deprive yourself of a given substrate, your body will adapt and use an alternative substrate to generate that ATP.

FAD diets tend to be missing a lot of macro or micronutrients necessary for our body to function. It’s typically just a decreased amount of kcals that leads to weight loss, not the diet.

Saunas do not lead to the burning of fat or fat loss. You are only sweating out water (losing water weight). Saunas are effective for improving cardiovascular health, but this does not affect body weight.

Americans experience low back pain or tightness and it can be due to a lack of flexibility in the low back and tightness in the hamstrings.

Eccentric contractions produce the highest force. Isometric contractions have a greater maximal force than concentric contractions.

What are the exercise guidelines? Complete 150 - 300 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic PA or 75 - 150 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic PA Do muscle-strengthening activities of moderate or greater intensity that involve all major muscle groups on 2 or more days a week

Resistance training increases resting metabolic rate (RMR) due to higher muscle mass, and that’s why resistance training is an important component of a weight loss or weight management exercise program.

Frequency of exercise should be increased before Intensity.

Physical Fitness lowers the risk of all-cause mortality more than Physical Activity (Blair, 2001).

What is Exercise? Exercise is a type of physical activity that is planned, structured, repetitive, and purposeful that aims to impact fitness.

What is Physical Activity? Physical activity is any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscle contraction with an increase in energy expenditure.

What are the Domains of Physical Activity? Recreation (Exercise), Transportation, Occupation, and Household. Physical Activity and Exercise are NOT the same. Physical Activity doesn't have to be achieved purely through working out or exercise.
