In 2001 the Monument of Tolerance was erected in memory of over 800 soldiers of 11 different nationalities who were killed in the #Leudal region during the Second World War. I was pleased to join the 24th remembrance ceremony. Thank you Ria Schmieder & colleagues @ukinnl 🇬🇧 🇳🇱

A wonderful weekend of 80th anniversary commemorations of the liberation of ‘s-Hertogenbosch by the 53rd Welsh Infantry Division ended at #Uden war cemetery where 103 of the 146 who died liberating the city rest. We will remember them @CWGC @ogsnl @TheRoyalWelsh @ukinnl 🇬🇧 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 🇳🇱

On Friday evening in #Amersfoort we made a silent march from Kamp Amersfoort to the railway station following the steps taken by 1,438 Jews and other prisoners on 11 October 1944. All were sent to concentration camps in Germany, only 18% survived @Kamp_Amersfoort @ukinnl

Among those buried at #Oldebroek general cemetery is Wing Commander Alan Michael ‘Sticky’ Murphy DSO DFC, who died on 2 December 1944. An officer who ‘invariably displayed great courage’, his Mosquito was shot down near #Wezep - @RoyalAirForce @RAFAssociation @CWGC @ukinnl 🇬🇧 🇳🇱
