Passchendale, Beaumont Hamel, Vimy, Dieppe, Anzio, Arnhem, Normandy, Kapyong, Kandahar. And so many more. To those who were afraid and went anyway. Who did it for those they knew and didn’t know. Who did it for us. Thank you. 🙏🏻 🌺🇨🇦 #LestWeForget

Canada led off this morning among Commonwealth countries at the Cenotaph on Whitehall in London, laying wreaths to commemorate those who have lost their lives defending freedom, democracy, human rights, due process and the rule of law. The march-past included more than 10,000.

A remarkable photograph capturing the first two minutes of silence in London, exactly 105 years ago. In those moments, the immense burden of personal grief and mourning would have been amplified beyond comprehension. #LestWeForget

Just 11 World War 2 veterans at the Cenotaph this year. Here are 7 of them, including 104 year old Christian Lamb who mapped the Normandy beaches for D-Day troops from right here in Whitehall. It was her first time in the March past.

We remember them. On behalf of the nation, The King lays a wreath at the Cenotaph during the annual Service of Remembrance. Wreaths were also laid by The Prince of Wales, The Princess Royal and The Duke of Edinburgh, and on behalf of The Queen and The Duke of Kent.

Tonight is 86th anniversary of Kristallnacht. 86 years ago my family’s synagogue & cemetery was desecrated by Nazi thugs and my grandfather, after being held at knife point by Hitler youth, fled Germany for Britain. Never has testimony been so important. Never again is now.
