We are hiring another faculty! Supported by the SUNY Empire Innovation Program, we're looking for an Assistant/Associate Prof in biologically-oriented chemistry! Very exciting times at @StonyBrookChem! apply.interfolio.com/151188
Come by my colleague @StonyBrookChem! We are searching for an Assistant Professor in the areas of physical, biophysical, analytical, atmospheric, surface, and/or environmental chemistry - both experimentalists & theoreticians are welcome! apply.interfolio.com/148894 #facultychemjobs
We are very excited to share that our department is searching for a new organic chemistry professor! Candidates with a research emphasis on catalysis, new reaction development, and/or synthetic methodology preferred. More details at buff.ly/4dzJiRD
Excited to share our new @ChemRxiv preprint that describes CySP3-96 plate-based cysteine chemoproteomic method. Congrats to @FShikwana and team and thanks to @GustafsonLab for the atropisomers! and #SergiLabSupplies @pochekailov for the low cost resin! chemrxiv.org/engage/chemrxi…

Check out our latest work in Nature Comm! Distinct structural features in IDH1 mutants drive their unique catalytic profiles and lead to differences in an allosteric pocket that may impact inhibitor resistance. A great collaboration with Huxford and Cooksy labs here at @SDSU!
@The_Sohl_Lab show mutants of isocitrate dehydrogenase 1, an enzyme implicated in various cancers, have distinct catalytic and structural features that drive oncometabolite production. nature.com/articles/s4146…
We are very happy to announce the promotion of three colleagues this year! Dr. Komperda @RegIsChem is now an Associate Prof with tenure, and Drs. Swairjo and Yan have been promoted to (full) Professor! Congratulations to all of you them on their exemplary work!
Jim, a member of the @GustafsonLab, cultivated a positive & inclusive environment in the organic chem labs. He would lead short meditation sections to get students in a good state of mind each lab period & was a sounding board for students to discuss their experiences at SDSU.
In some exciting, but also bittersweet news, the group will be relocating to the Stony Brook University Chemistry department over the summer. I am looking forward to the future, but will miss all of the amazing colleagues and friends at @SDSUChemBiochem
Great new program at SDSU. Latest group picture in matching @SDSUsciences PPE fresh from the vending machine

While Beeta and Bahar's turkey was the clear winner, the Popeye's Turkey was quite good for a pre-cooked frozen turkey.
We had a great time with @GustafsonLab at Labsgiving 2023! Congrats to Beeta and Bahar for winning the 🦃 competition! 😋
SDSU organic Labsgiving 2023 was a huge success! @RustinGavin was a great organizer, and the @ByronPurse and group made it even more awesome (Byron went to Julian for a Pie).
Led by the Shao group at @UofOklahoma, we extended the idea of energy decomposition analysis to QM/MM free energy calculations for enzyme-catalyzed reactions recently. Great pleasure to be part of this work: pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.10…
For those looking for a great opportunity to pursue PhD or MS degrees in chemistry. I may be biased, but we are a great department (in a pretty great city) to do graduate work in.
@SDSU Chemistry and Biochemistry is accepting applicants for our Ph.D., M.S., and M.A. programs for Fall 2024. The first part of the application on Interfolio is free and lets us consider you for an application fee waiver. Come join us for👩🔬 and 🏖! tinyurl.com/vwxtvbxv
With a week to grieve, the unexpected loss of our treasured collaborator Doug Grotjahn still hurts. Doug was a luminary in every sense & built an incredible foundation for organic and organometallic chem at @SDSU @SDSUChemBiochem RIP friend.
