Need to evaluate your thoughts again. Last time, you told me to stay on Twitter and not go to Threads. But a lot of people (including one friend I respect a lot - who will show me it this Sunday) suggest moving to Blue Sky. Should I? I do not have time to do both.

I’ll have to do another poll. An overwhelming majority told me to stay here and not go to Threads. We’ll see if feelings are different about Blue Sky.

@GrossWeather any chance you’re making the jump to the Blue Sky place? Leaving here soon and would love to still follow you there!

He epitomizes everything that is wrong with social media. Fortunately, he chose the wrong Twitter account to post his lie on. I called him out with the facts, and he has now publicly embarrassed himself to the world as being nothing more than a lowly social media troll. 👏

That rant literally makes zero sense like what in the world.

That is one of the most blatant lies ever sent to me. We were dead set against that. I even wrote a letter expressing our opinions to the vice president. Go post your conspiracy laden B.S. somewhere else, because I don’t tolerate it on my feed.

No. Every broadcast meteorologist gave their full approval when NWS cancelled all the local observers' contracts, to go automated and divert the contact funds to woke DIE. Crying 'but quality' now is both cringey and disgusting

Just in: this year the @DetGoodfellows will distribute holiday packages to *26,000* children, ages 14 to 13, in Detroit, Hamtramck, Highland Park, River rouge, Ecorse, Harper Woods, and Redford. “No kiddie without a Christmas”

Mr. Musk - what will be the method for communicating with you if I see proposed cuts for something that negatively impacts meteorologists’ ability to “protect the life and property” of our nation’s citizens? I want to be respectful and follow proper protocol. Thank you. 🌪️🌊⛈️❄️

All actions of the Department of Government Efficiency will be posted online for maximum transparency. Anytime the public thinks we are cutting something important or not cutting something wasteful, just let us know! We will also have a leaderboard for most insanely dumb…

Mr. Zuckerberg (@finkd) - my Facebook page was disabled for “violating our terms and policies.” I did no such thing (and if something objectionable DID appear, then I was hacked and this is easily resolvable by changing my password). I’d like your help here…

But that happens with facts being posted, too! Sometimes, when I post rigorously verified climate change research results, some people who flat out deny the science respond with false claims and, as I mentioned before, some people just blindly accept this w/o checking the source.

Agreed. As a society we haven’t learned how to handle social media well. The answer is to educate, not censor. For instance, after you posted, there would be several people calling you out on that claim. Let the community hash it out, that’s how we learn.

That’s the problem: so many people do not possess critical thinking skills and are unwilling or unable to do any fact checking. Let’s say I posted that boiling poison ivy leaves and drinking the “tea” has enormous health benefits (🛑). There are some people who’d actually do it.

Isn’t that then the reason for social media, and for that matter any social connection, to discuss and teach people to think using differing points of view, knowledge, and experience? The problem with misinformation is who decides what that is?

Wrong. Clinton and Gore spoke at that event, obviously, but so did climate scientists. And much of what climate scientists told us then has already come true or undoubtedly will.

Paul, 90s Clinton called every station chief meteorologist to DC and told them to lie about global warming as much as they could. That is the opposite of free speech Now when someone mentions the Medieval Warm Period on socials-- the broadcasters yell 'misinformation hate.'

I should have worded that differently. Former Supreme Court justice Oliver Wendell Holmes used that phrase in an opinion. The basic premise is that certain aspects of free speech are NOT protected by the 1st amendment. Obviously, most of what’s on social media IS protected.

Hmmm, I looked but can't find a law that prohibits yelling fire in a theater.

By law, you can’t “yell fire in a crowded theater” when there is no fire, and cause a panic-driven stampede to get out. But you CAN on social media. I’m all for free speech. The problem with social media is that so many users have no critical thinking skills and don’t fact check.

Love to have you stay, but go with your heart. Any time speech is censored it drives misinformation on all sides and the remedy is free speech and transparency. I thank @elonmusk for giving people back their voice. People aren’t healthy if they can’t express their thoughts.

Long range models hinting at tropical development by this weekend with a system POSSIBLY entering the Gulf next week. Obviously, this is not a forecast but, rather, a heads up that we may have something to monitor. A LOT can change between now and then. Stay tuned…

Tuesday morning: I’ll be discussing Sunday night’s Holly tornado between 8:15 and 8:30am on @wjrradio

I did a poll a few months ago, and something like 80%+ said to stay here on Twitter. If you ALL want me to move to an alternative to Twitter, then I’m happy to leave this cesspool to the misinformation crowd.

It’s where we’re migrating to from here.

Never heard of it.

Are you on bluesky?

I’ve been reflecting about our veterans all day, including my father, a proud WWII Navy vet. He spent a total of 4 years in the VA hospital after the war, and dealt with other related physical issues later in life. Heartfelt thanks to our vets for your sacrifices. 🫡 🇺🇸
