My best day this year so far - Bioblitz at Thornham. In such awe of the knowledge of the local experts assembled by @NorfolkWT all helping support the creation of the Thornham community meadow. My best new discovery has to be the jerking disc sawfly, nature is just amazing!

Tell your MP - as farmers, we want ELMS 📣 ELMS is in review. This government cannot break its promise to reform agriculture policy for the better, so we’ve launched an open letter petition to make the voices of nature-friendly farmers heard ⬇️ #RethinkFood

My first ever Common Redstart on my home patch, this one has been in the garden most of the week. A not so common find in Cambridgeshire at this time of year.

15 years ago we converted 3 acres of intensive arable land to pond, trees, hedge and pasture. Every year we have counted an increase in swallow numbers nesting and feeding - tonight we have 500 plus hawking above our patch. Small changes can make a big difference.

Bempton was good to me this week, just as impressive as the big birds were the numbers of tree sparrow and corn bunting on the reserve and neighbouring farmland

Biodiversity net gain a hot topic @AHDB_Cereals today, @johanntasker leading a session where a big message is that the ability for farmers to negotiate the best deals is key - there is no blueprint! @Brownandcorural

Good to see 3 sightings of turtle dove at Snettisham this afternoon, also plenty of cuckoo action at the moment

Excited that planting of high-carbon sequestering trees has begun, fighting climate change & producing fast growing sustainable hard wood. Hear me talk about work @ Euston estate on todays @FarmersWeekly podcast with @johanntasker @a_blenky @ForestryComm apple.co/3MmjTgl

A stunning male Black Redstart out in the sun today @NorfolkWT

Good to be able to share the opportunities of woodland and it’s far bigger than just about trees..

For those who think planting lots of new woodland is the easy answer to climate change and carbon management….it’s complicated. ⁦@GregBeeton⁩ from ⁦@Brownandcorural⁩ explains the thinking behind decision-making around new woodland creation.

Big messages today at the @Hutchinsons_Ag national carbon conference that reinforce the link between good carbon practices and good financial practices for farmers. It’s a win win. @Brownandcorural

This stunning Norfolk Hawker with admiring blue tailed damsel fly @NorfolkWT Hickling yesterday, it’s a good year for Norfolk Hawkers with reports along the coast down to @NorfolkWT Holme as well.

Hickling @NorfolkWT this morning immersed in the sounds of singing sedge and willow warblers, the calls of common terns, the buzz of insects and the shimmer of Norfolk Hawkers over the reeds, it’s just impossible not to relax.

Redshank are active at the moment brooding chicks, making lots of noise keeping everyone away and sometimes just having a rest. These from @NWTCleyCentre @NorfolkWT

This was in the back garden this morning when I looked out to a dull north Norfolk morning, not sure this is necessarily a good thing @NorfolkWT

Much variability in both barn owl and kestrel broods whilst ringing yesterday, single chicks through to a brood of 5 @NorfolkWT
