Had Soto signed in Boston, both New York teams would have been fine. There’s plenty of premium free agents and both have shown the willingness to spend aggressively. I’m elated the Mets got Soto but one player doesn’t guarantee a ring.

It was reported here an hour before the Soto signing that the Yankees were very uncomfortably in for $750–760M but that Cohen was prepared to go to $800M - which is precisely what he did if the Mets void his opt out and his AAV increases from $51M to $55M. How do you spell nuts?
