After some time looking in I thought that it was about time to join Twitter and actually try and contribute a little. Posts will be a mixture of amateur radio and retweets of things I find interesting.

Art is not just found in art galleries and museums!

I make precision pressure sensors. Electronics, Microfabrication, and machining. :)

Just a happy customer, but this antenna is a good quality bit of kit that really works. It's also made in the UK and at a decent price.

Very interesting video about how to make transistors at home, for the serious homebrewer! youtube.com/watch?v=cMxjU2…

Just had the backlight of my Tektronix TDS220 oscilloscope fail and not wanting to reinvent the wheel searched the EEV blog forum eevblog.com/forum/index.php and looked up the associated faults. Very helpful and saved a bit of time and effort fault finding so well worth a look.

Well it looks interesting and obviously aimed at the IC 705. As such I do not think it's a realistic replacement for the FT 818. That spot I think is being given up to the Chinese, at least on price. Be very interesting to see the price point and reviews when it is released.

With all the dire stuff on here at the moment this definitely deserves a repost.

It's #NationalTellAJokeDay today. Do you have a favourite joke within #Discworld? Here are some of ours... “Oh, I don’t know, I really don’t,” said Nanny. “I mean, it’s flattering and everything, but I really don’t think I could be goin’ out with a man with a limp.” “Limp…

For those of us still running Windows 10 and thought we did not have to deal with the CoPilot security issues. My PC has just run Windows update and after a restart I have a nasty little CoPilot icon in my task bar. Its now uninstalled but not nice to sneak it in a regular update

Finding lovely little places like this in small tucked away places is why I love going wandering in London.

The story behind the Onion Garden in Westminster. An inspiring, little green oasis👇

Good that he is receiving some public recognition at last!

The pioneering work of engineer Tommy Flowers has been recognised in the form of @englishheritage's latest blue plaque 🔵 Flowers and his team designed COLOSSUS at Dollis Hill, which was later used to break German cipher systems at @bletchleypark in #WWII.

A pretty amazing achievement and the result of an awful lot of man hours I imagine.

This explains so much! either that or they were a closet Flerken😇

For those that have occasionally managed to "brick" a radio, here is one that might save some time😇 Check out the new Lego Retro Radio! swling.com/blog/2024/05/c…

Rather like this, can anyone think of a few more? Ohm sweet Ohm comes to mind, or possibly only the Ohmly by Roy Orbison if one goes the song title route.

Saw this and thought of @mightyohm

Had a look at the Radio-Kits website as I was thinking about finally getting around to building the MKARS 80 kit I bought literally years ago when I found this rather interesting new kit. radio-kits.co.uk/explorer/index…… 20, 40 or 80M 5W SSB, CW and DATA with CAT control.

Nice little demo, agree really needs some model towers and transmission lines, possibly some HT switch gear? Might be a little dodgy to get some of the arcing effects though!

Toy transmission system demo. No towers!!! I need to make some mini towers. And then I think bare conductors ⚡️😈

My previous iteration of this design suffered from leakage currents (through the PCB) at high-impedance points of the circuit. Polymethyl methacrylate ( volume resistivity >2.0E+15Ω/cm ) as a mechanical substrate should hopefully solve that problem...

Many thanks. 🙂 I have two PF1 TXs and RXs somewhere. 🙂 So, first thing, I need to find the old yellow and red batteries. ☹️ I also have the associated battery charger, somewhere. 🙂

Rather like this, a bit different from the usual Nixie Tubes.

Analog Voltmeter Clock! The Voltmeter Clock uses dual analog meters to tell time - one for hours and and one for minutes. awkwardengineer.com/products/model…
