Ito Seiko is the Poet with Machida Ko’s Sunday Gypsy Avalon set was absolutely unique. Spoken word poetry over a live dub backing band, pretty slick stuff. It started off immediately addressing Gaza, and the serious tone kept up throughout.

Kim Gordon is unstoppable. Of course she is, she is Kim Gordon. But her White Stage show Sunday night was something else. Like industrial, trap and spoken word poetry got thrown in a blender with a few effects pedals and a subwoofer. Big swings, but some very solid connects!

Bubble-gum synth backing track, no frills hard hitting drums, shredding guitar, auto tuned vocals, very very danceable songs… a recipe for indie pop delight. Mega Shinnosuke had bodies moving and hands in the air within 30 seconds of starting

Apparently the Dutch know how to sling chill moods, or at least Holland’s Yin Yin do! Their set was breezy, dreamy, loungy and family friendly psychedelic. It also felt a bit Vulfpeck-y in its casual virtuosity, which is for sure a good thing.

Great briyani beef rice with salad! A healthy dining option

After sitting in on a panel discussion on violence at the Gypsy Avalon stage, Nanao Tavito kicked off a rousing set, supported on keys by Taihei from Suchmos. He started off with a cover of Tracy Chapman’s fast car, and then we were off to the races.

If you were of a certain age and depressed, there is a chance you have listened to some of Beth Gibbon’s music. Her poignant and powerful voice provided the perfect soundtrack to a moody Naeba sunset, like wrapping yourself in a blanket woven out of emotions and certain ideations

Finnish group US seems to have been everywhere at Fuji Rock this weekend, opening up zenyasai, acoustic show, Red Marquee show. Fuji Rock putting these young pups through their paces!! But they looked none the worse for wear during their rip-roaring last Fuji appearance on Sunday

The prince of one man banding, the king of beer can destroying, the prime minister of busking, EPPAI wears many hats. And there's always an extra hat to drop your cash into too. If you are sleeping on the buskers at Fuji Rock you are missing out! DON’T FORGET TO TIP YOUR BUSKER!

Sure, big stages and huge acts are fun, but don’t overlook the buskers! Masato Moja has been around the fest all weekend, dealing out his unique brand of avant-garde clowning magic like so many playing cards. DON’T FORGET TO TIP YOUR BUSKER! #fujirock24 #fujirockfestival24 #frf24

On the way to Field of Heaven

We had a chance to talk to Asian Kung-Fu Generation singer and rock legend Gotoh Masafumi about Route 17 Rock n' Roll Orchestra, Fuji Rock and the social responsibility of artists in general. Take a peek! fujirockexpress.net/24/p_3125.html #fujirock24 #fujirockfestival24

If you needed to get a little pre-noon pep in your step, or a little skank in your legs, there was nowhere better to be than Tokyo Ska Paradise at the Green Stage! They made white suits seem incredibly doable, and not even the noontime heat could break their cool. #fujirock24

It is safe to say there aren’t many bands quite like Eyrie, and presumably aren’t too many to come, but they occupy their particular niche quite well. Here’s hoping you were at Naeba Shokudo on Saturday to see them! PHOTO BY平川啓子 #fujirock24 #fujirockfestival24 #frf24

Fitting onstage tribute to the late great musician John Mayall who will live on in his music and especially the song “Long Gone”

Good music is not bread left on the counter, it does get stale with time. Occasionally it can stay remarkably fresh, and Ohnuki Taeko’s Friday set (her first Fuji ever) was practically evergreen. #frf24 #fujirock24 #fuijrockfestival24

Tokumaru Shugo’s noontime Field of Heaven performance felt like stumbling upon a child jamming with fairies in a magical forest glade, everything playful, rollicking and whimsical. #fujirock24 #fujirockfestival#24 #frf24

If you are going to be the last act performing as folks file back from all the other stages, last chance for a party if you are sleeping sensibly or the start of the real nighttime if you aren’t, you’d better be big. And broad. And preferably a little wacky. Enter Denki Groove

Don't forget there are buskers about! Like this avant-garde mime Kano Mami! Let them entertain them and then reward them with some cold, hard cash.
