This grotesque bill should be rejected. There can be no “robust safeguards” once this Rubicon is crossed. Legalised killing is not the answer. It is immoral and in essence evil. telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/…

Public money for assisted suicide means less public money for healthcare. This is a choice. Thank you @wesstreeting for being willing to say this explicitly at last.

Quite the intervention on Assisted Dying from Wes Streeting. Says it will come at they expense of other NHS services Although he says other health ministers would deal with the detail wouldn’t it still be tricky for him to remain health secretary if AD passes

Less than 3 weeks before it's due to be debated, Kim Leadbeater MP has finally published the text of her assisted suicide bill. It's 38 pages long, has 43 clauses and 6 schedules. MPs will have a maximum of five hours to debate it. bills.parliament.uk/bills/3774/pub…

This is one of the longest Private Members Bills ever but was only published last night. MPs will have only 5 hours to debate it. The promised safeguards do nothing to prevent the abuses we’ve seen in Canada. Vulnerable people need our protection. This bill is not the answer.

There is nothing safe about the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, but a fundamental misunderstanding of its impact on medicine. We have got to fix palliative care first and foremost, yet this Bill draws more resources away from providing care. I will vote against.

Given that we know that coercive control is something insidious and manipulative and that people often don’t realise they have been victims until years later, the Assisted Dying Bill is an enormous threat to vulnerable people. There are no adequate safeguards here.

Thread/ I've quickly digested the Leadbeater Bill, which was published this evening; I hope what follows reflects it accurately. The good news is we can stop this nonsense about 'assisted dying', 'shortening death' etc.

We now have an amazing 205 signatories from the breadth of the Church of England. I’d love to make it 250 by Monday so please share, share, share!

If you are serving clergy (licensed or PTO) within the CofE and would be interested in signing a letter to the press warning of the dangers of assisted suicide, please reply below or DM to receive a link to a copy of the letter for your consideration. Please retweet! Thanks.

During earlier debates on euthanasia, Dominic Lawson & @GeorgePitcher brilliantly argued for “care not kill.”Movingly,Alison Davis said she had been given 25 years of extra life which would have been denied if her wish to die had been granted:missing “the best years of my life.”

Euthanasia is a licence to kill. UK has a tough law - gently & carefully enforced.Keep it that way.” Safeguards”don’t work-see Canada & Holland.Rushed law will put vulnerable people at risk. We need better palliative care not NHS lethal injections. ⁦@wesstreeting⁩ ⁦⁩

Not sure 2.30pm can be regarded as teatime such that the last booking for Afternoon Tea is then… it’s barely the afternoon!

Of course we know it is real, but some interesting extra evidence here, and some amazing photographs. I hope one day to see this priceless and astounding relic.

Is this the image of Jesus of Nazareth? New X-ray analysis just revealed the Shroud of Turin, Christ's alleged burial cloth, to be 2,000 years old. So here's what we know — and why it might just be real... (thread) 🧵

Friends, my thoughts on the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. #Olimpiadas2024 #OlympicGames

This is exactly right. This grotesque blasphemy was the reason Prayers of Reparation were said before the Blessed Sacrament during the Mass this morning in Tuebrook.

To the Paris Olympics organizing committee, not good enough. #OlympicGames #Olympics2024Paris @Olympics
