My new book on Sibelius’s symphonies and tone poems is out now. A chapter is devoted to each work, exploring their individual context, essence and interpretation, followed by a movement-by-movement guide to the music. (There is also an appendix section on recommended recordings.)

The top-class orchestra, incisively conducted by Alexander Joel, all wore “Protect WNO” T-shirts instead of their usual black. As the theatre has no pit, they were visible throughout. There was no forgetting their plight. 🙏@FionaMaddocks
