The Downtown Sculpture Exhibition 2024 came to a conclusion this week. Thank you to our volunteers, especially our artists: James Cameron Smith (pictured here), Elise Muller (pictured here), Rosalinde Baumgartner, Carolanne MacLean, and Lynne Sproule. #fenelonartscommittee
The Fertility Goddess pays tribute to the importance equines, large and small, played in the development of agriculture, commerce, & community. It embraces the bright and playful nature of horses and the ‘goddess’ brings with her the added elements of abundance and prosperity.
For this sculpture I used a drawing of our favourite life model, Georgina. She had posed for our drawing classes for years; we knew her very well. The relaxed seated pose reflects a secure inner contentment. #fenelonarts
This sculpture is an investigation of texture, beauty, tranquility, and deep reflection of youth. MacLean spent her childhood holidays with relatives in Fenelon Falls; her mother was raised on a farm in Cresswell, and her grandmother later lived in Little Britain and Lindsay.
🐦⬛💜 The sculpture highlights community & presents a physical reminder of the importance of the natural environment. It references First Nations mythology of the raven as a trickster and transformer while embracing environmental values such as sustainability & resourcefulness.

This sculpture of the connection between a parent and their child, which is a universal theme, has been carved in beautiful pinkish red stone that will last forever. - Elise Muller buff.ly/46XEhzY #elisemuller #fenelonarts #fenelonfalls #publicart #publicsculpture

Thinking back to our launch event & how great it is to work with these incredibly talented artists and volunteers! ❤️ Donna Goodwin, Kathy Armstrong, Elise Muller, Rosalinde Baumgartner, James Cameron Smith, Carolanne MacLean, Sabrina Cooper, Darcie Kennedy, and Lynne Sproule.
Sproule created this work to highlight the role horses played in the agriculture, commerce, and community of Fenelon Falls. The sculpture embraces the bright and playful nature of horses and the ‘goddess’ brings with her the added elements of abundance and prosperity.
🐴💙 Have you seen the latest addition to The Downtown Sculpture Exhibition 2024? Be sure to check out Lynne Sproule's The Fertility Goddess, 2024, winterstone, 24 x 24 x 30 inches.
