I get asked a lot what IS a Substack & do I need one? I say this: see it as YOUR personal media channel, where you can use video/audio/written word to build & OWN your community, make ££ and strengthen your personal brand. Here's how: faq.substack.com/p/how-to-start…

Twitter is back to messing with Substack writers and their links. It is throttling them in multiple ways. I wish they would stop making life harder for writers. This is not writer-friendly behavior. Suppressing links to news, and analysis does not make Twitter a better place.

Was very honoured to speak to the great @drchatterjeeuk about all things status on his podcast

What does the word ‘status’ mean to you? For most of us, it probably brings up ideas of wealth or material possessions. But could it be something much more meaningful and central to who we are as humans?

At the risk of irritating everyone, my first Substack goes up at 10. It's too long, but that's what happens when a columnist is de-columned.

Loved @Farrah_Storr 's newsletter on The End of Brand 'Me' today! I find branded personhood, how it affects our conception of self and our relations to others absolutely fascinating. Farrah's words insightfully hit the nail on the head, as always! farrah.substack.com/p/the-end-of-b…

Many thanks to @Farrah_Storr for taking me through why all mass-market titles should be launching a @SubstackInc (and for the encouragement to launch my own gonzo newsletter about carbs) voices.media/substack-uk-he…

What has been reported in the Twitter Files is news. History is going to make that clear. That journalists are hauled before Congress to be attacked for their reporting of that news should concern anyone who cares about journalism.

This will be a big year for Substack, and the media economy writ large. While the big tech players will tweak the old models in an attempt to retain their dominance, we will work with writers and culture makers to build something new, with different rules.

"This may come as a surprise, but all of us who work closely with writers here at Substack spend a lot of time trying to convince them that they deserve to get paid for their work." What a privilege to work at a place that deeply values writers. read.substack.com/p/pledges
