#Mechanisation in #sanitation is crucial in ensuring a safe and dignified workspace for our sanitation workers! #SwachhBharat #toilets #WaSH

NAMASTE has played an important role in India's cleanliness journey. With mechanized sanitation, we're one step closer to a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable nation. #NAMASTE #SwachhBharat

How can we #adapt our buildings to changing #climate? How can we make use of #indigenous knowledge and #vernacular solutions? At FIN, we strengthened our fences with stitched palm leaves. Even if they get blown off by a #cyclone they are at least #biodegradable

Some quick updates on our FIN #sanitation drive in #Kameswaram. 1. We managed to update the costs of construction to current #prices 💹 2. We spoke to masons regarding #construction techniques 🧱 3. We are setting up a #model Ecosan at our office🚽

Our team at FIN celebrated #IndependenceDay a few days back, and functions went well with good #community participation. But we were wondering what we seek independence from now? We think we should seek independence from the #negative effects of the #ClimateEmergency

The FIN ladies recently held a women's meet in #Kameswaram, seeking and encouraging village women to reflect on what teamwork means to them. They were also introduced to ways in which #scrap textile can be repurposed unlocking their #value 💪

Working on our #circulareconomy initiatives by keeping textile waste away from the #ocean. After some #advice from expert Ratna Rajiah, we are making efforts towards improving the bags we produce out of #waste cloth 💪

Celebrating freedom, #unity, and the spirit of our nation. Let's honor the past and embrace the future together. Happy 77th #Independence Day!

While it is easy to talk about #circulareconomy, putting that in action can be tricky, especially when dealing with materials that are not so circular. Here are a few #progress pictures on our experimentation with reusing oil covers

A little update from our FIN field office #garden! We recently harvest 9 bundles of #spinach which was quickly taken by nearby villagers. Growing our own greens can be a huge step towards making healthy and native foods #accessible 🥬

Even as a #charity we know nothing comes for free! In exchange for building toilets, our beneficiaries help us construct bins for waste. The villagers of #Kameswaram are beginning to use them. Taking two birds with one stone indeed! #sanitation #recycling

மிக்க முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்த சொற்கள். அதை #மறக்கமாட்டோம்

Recently we had #AadiPerukku which is marked by the flow of water in #Kaveri and #Kollidam, making it an important festivity in Kameswaram. However, with celebrations come a lot of #pollution in public spaces. How do we celebrate without spoiling our surroundings?

Following our post yesterday, the vegetables and herbs from our field office garden has been flying off the shelves (or rather, our makeshift bench)! Let's encourage a healthier diet that meets our nutritional needs affordably!

Social work is a challenging space to operate in. When you depend on #donations, funds often restrict the scale of #projects. One way we hope to be financially #sustainable is to produce useful daily use products that bring out the value in what we see as #waste♻️

So few #plastic covers get recycled and end up in local waterbodies and the sea around #Kameswaram. What do we do with them to give them a second life? Step 1: Cut open and stitch the covers into similar sizes For the next step stay tuned to our #upcycling miniseries

Pictured here is a local farmer in #Kameswaram spraying #organic fertiliser from fish waste, rich in nitrogen. Agriculture and food systems can be much more circular, and educating people to think this way from a young age is crucial to see more of #solutions like this

#Experiment. Recently one of our rural living lab staff had the bright idea of using oil and milk covers as materials to make #shopping bags. Here is the result of their first efforts. #Recyclage #upcycle #plasticpollution #FINdingSolutions

As part of our work, FIN has been designing and making large dustbins to ensure that people in #Kameswaram have designated spaces to throw their #trash and also separate it by biodegradables and #recyclables. Will keep you all updated soon

For our #WaterWednesdays series we present this map that looks at water quality and sanitation scores of 180 countries in 2023. FIN reflects about the #fairness of representing #data by national boundaries when some countries are highly geographically #heterogenous 📊📈📉

This map reveals each country's water quality (EPI) score as given by Yale University, indicating how safe the local drinking water is. A higher score means safer water. Pakistan score is 15 means water is not safe for drinking at all. India 17 and Bangladesh 26. UK and Europe…

With World #Ocean Day passing by earlier this weekend, we present more of our cloth #bags and #mats made by recycling old clothes to be disposed. Giving textiles a second life while preventing #pollution is all about #FINdingSolutions ♻️👕🌊
