Over 500 renters are served a section 21 eviction notice EVERY DAY. It’s time for housing leaders across all parties to remind Parliament why we needed this Bill in the first place, and fight for renters. Tell them nothing less than a re-write will do shltr.org.uk/ifl5t

Still some time left to apply for this!

Still plenty of time to apply for Shelter's Community Organising post which closes on 25th March @ShelterGM @Shelter @NationwideFdtn

Shelter is recruiting a Community Organiser in GM to continue the work of FHF by helping communities build the skills, resources, and power they need to bring about change within GMs private rented sector. Its a great role! Link to apply below:

We're recruiting a new GROW trainee in our Housing Rights Worker team at Shelter Manchester - a supportive 12 month traineeship for people with lived experience of multiple disadvantages, who have faced barriers to work because of their lived experience and who are ready to work.

97-year-old Jean is facing losing her home after 17 years due to rent increases and she’s not alone 👇 3 in 10 (28%) private tenants over the age of 55 live in fear of being evicted. The #RentersReformBill must be strong enough to protect them. mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/p…

Great piece by @pollytoynbee - the reality of a day at civil court makes for grim reading. Until section 21 is scrapped, millions of renters will never know security in their own homes - the government must stop delaying and abolish it ASAP theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

📢🥳 AMAZING NEWS! The Chancellor has announced that housing benefit will be UNFROZEN to cover the bottom third of local rents. With homelessness at a record high, this will be an essential lifeline to keep people in their homes. #AutumnStatement

Much needed relief for 1.6m private renter households from Chancellor who has raised Local Housing Allowance in line with the cheapest 30% of rents. But this needs to be an annual increase to keep up with rising rents, rather than leave them frozen as they have been since 2020

This is a great win for charities who have been campaigning on #unfreezeLHA across the sector, and provides much needed financial support for many tenants who are struggling to cover their rent

This is what we’ve been waiting for… what a relief. Housing benefit will finally be unfrozen and set to cover 30% of local market rents #AutumnStatement

It’s the first day of the committee stage sitting of the #RentersReformBill, and we’ll be submitting our fist bit of evidence. Want to add yours? There’s still time to submit your story of renting to be included! Anyone can share their experience 👇🏾 shltr.org.uk/5fdcU

There’s just one week left for @Jeremy_Hunt to unfreeze housing benefit in the #AutumnStatement. So we thought we’d ice things up in Westminster.🚚👀 The Chancellor has a choice. Will he fail to tackle homelessness by keeping housing benefit frozen? Or will he do what's needed?

🚨 BREAKING: 1 in 10 private renters are at risk of losing their homes this winter. 🚨 That's equivalent to 814,000 adults - or 1.1million people including children in the household. 📈 Rocketing rents and rising evictions are leaving renters in turmoil. independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-n…

It was great to explore the @FHF_Shelter Housing Futures Private Rented Sector Manifesto with @TraffordCouncil . We are keen to continue working with Cllr Tom Ross, the team at Trafford and the other 9 GM Authorities to deliver the FHF manifesto creating a PRS that works for all.

Good to hear more about @FHF_Shelter from board members @fayselvan & John earlier today. We’ve got some great initiatives in GM including the Good Landlord Charter & I’m keen to explore what more we can do in Trafford 🏠

Last Project Board meeting with the excellent Fair Housing Futures folks. We learned lots from 6 years with funding from @NationwideFdtn and support from @Shelter and leadership from @fayselvan Plans are afoot for embedding the learning. Intrigued? See england.shelter.org.uk/professional_r…

Great news that the second reading of the Renter's Reform Bill will be taking place on Monday - taking us a step closer to much needed change within the PRS

🚨 JUST CONFIRMED - the Renters (Reform) Bill's second reading will finally take place this Monday!🚨 This is a huge moment. Having pushed for it since the Bill was first published in May, we are excited to start scrutinising and strengthening the Bill in Parliament 📜👀
