You see what trees are doing above ground, but below ground their massive root systems play an important role in slowing water flow (to prevent erosion) and filtering water as it trickles into our drinking water sources.

Important that we treat tree roots as a precious engine room to support tree health @royal_forestry #resilientforests #silviculture

PhD student Andrew Benson, @Treasearcher, has published this nice work looking at how mature roadside trees respond to root severance bit.ly/2kHW9vW He suggests not trenching nearer than 6x DBH to avoid physiological stress. #UrbanForest #arboriculture #treephysiology

Said it before - water doesn't burn! #ThursdayMotivation If a log weighs 3kg & has a #water content of 33%, it's equal to 1 litre of water being poured into your #stove. Always buy your wood from a @WoodsureFuel accredited member as good stoves need good fuel! #ReadytoBurn #facts

Oak is now added to our current stock of Ash and Birch. Packed into boot bags, bulk bags and crates! Our Oak net bags will be ready next week. #kilndriedlogs #woodsurereadytoburn #firewood #stoves #woodburner #logburner #fireplace #logstore

NO! We need to use MORE timber to substitute for energy intensive products eg concrete & steel. YES we need to reduce off-shoring our timber supply but the answer is more plantations with better #silviculture and a natural treeline in the uplands. #righttreerightplace
