Finally! Why did it take so long? All that hype around Chilumpha's arrest back then ... only to end up like this? We need to seriously reconsider the haste with which criminal cases are instituted in Malawi. The upside? Hopefully strong jurisprudence and lessons for the state

The High Court in Blantyre has discharged all charges leveled against former vice-president Cassim Chilumpha and former politician and businessperson Yusuf Matumula in the treason case which started in May 2006.

Great strides!

The Bureau boasts as the only governance institution in Malawi to have a vibrant and fully functioning Electronic Case Management System. We recently migrated all old paper-based case file data to the system (Case Plus) and now the cases are available electronically.

What an incredible day! Both of our in-house counsel arguing for us in two virtual hearings in the Western Cape High Court. Both bringing in arguments about the need to address #SLAPP suits used to silence human rights defenders

❗️IMPORTANT NOTICE❗️ ALL SCHOOLS MUST ADMIT UNDOCUMENTED LEARNERS!

IMPORTANT: The Department of Education has issued Circular 1 of 2020. It withdraws Circular 1 of 2019 and instructs schools to ADMIT UNDOCUMENTED LEARNERS into school as per the Grahamstown High Court judgment. Let us hope for no more reports of out of school learners in 2020.
