Most of the schools cost 65k+ a year & have few black students. Advantages baked into the admissions process for affluent white applicants are ubiquitous. From that perspective. Affirmative action is a very conservative superficial intervention. It is the least they can do.
This is such good reporting from the @harvardcrimeson: There are about 27,000 high schools in the U.S. Over the past 15 years, 1 in 11 students at Harvard have come from just 21 high schools. So 9.1% of Harvard students come from 0.07% of US schools. @nytdavidbrooks

We Black Southerners have BEEN saying that Project 2025 was here BEFORE the election. Ignoring Black southerners, particularly those of us in the deep south & in rural counties, is partially why northerners & coasties are undone. America IS the South.

Sherrod Brown was an old school labor rights Democrat and he lost decisively to a car dealership owner who had to settle several wage theft lawsuits before running for office. This election was not about working class discontent.

Update: Several of the migrants I’ve been speaking with say they would have voted for Trump themselves. Most are folks who crossed the border illegally in the last 2-3 years. They don’t believe Trump will deport them, because they are here to work and are “not criminals.”

It didn’t matter how vile, hateful, or unqualified Trump was, he isn’t a Black woman — and that was enough. That’s why generalized terms like “bipoc” have never truly made a difference because the manifestation of our pain and struggle is different; as is our experience.
White people, en masse, will do anything to protect whiteness. Men, en masse, will do anything to protect patriarchy. Non Black people of color, en masse, will do anything to align themselves with whiteness.

IF Sherrod Brown (a legitimately really good senator that actually responded to constituent concerns) loses to a used car salesman who stole wages from his employees, we have really lost the plot and I don’t think we find it again.
