Most of the schools cost 65k+ a year & have few black students. Advantages baked into the admissions process for affluent white applicants are ubiquitous. From that perspective. Affirmative action is a very conservative superficial intervention. It is the least they can do.

This is such good reporting from the @harvardcrimeson: There are about 27,000 high schools in the U.S. Over the past 15 years, 1 in 11 students at Harvard have come from just 21 high schools. So 9.1% of Harvard students come from 0.07% of US schools. @nytdavidbrooks

I don’t even know how to begin to counsel students asking for career advice related to DOJ and the US Attorneys’ Offices

Yall turning into conservatives a lil too quick for me. Talking about calling ICE and going to Starbucks to support a genocide? Don't lose the plot. We aren't the monsters they are. We can collectively take care of our own community without harming others. Chill

"I know that's not true." @esglaude on whether it's "the economy stupid."

We Black Southerners have BEEN saying that Project 2025 was here BEFORE the election. Ignoring Black southerners, particularly those of us in the deep south & in rural counties, is partially why northerners & coasties are undone. America IS the South.

Handmaid’s Tale already happened to Black American Women. Our European last names do not give you pause?

Dems have an image problem, but I need everybody on the left to finally have a come to Jesus moment: THIS WAS A VOTE FOR WHITE SUPREMACY & PATRIARCHY. Y'all doing a whole lot of "wake up" talk while keeping blinders on about the clearest, most key fact in all of this.

Sherrod Brown was an old school labor rights Democrat and he lost decisively to a car dealership owner who had to settle several wage theft lawsuits before running for office. This election was not about working class discontent.

Update: Several of the migrants I’ve been speaking with say they would have voted for Trump themselves. Most are folks who crossed the border illegally in the last 2-3 years. They don’t believe Trump will deport them, because they are here to work and are “not criminals.”

I’m speaking with migrants outside Atlanta’s ICE field office about last night’s election results. “We’re fucked,” said the very first person I talked to, a woman from Nicaragua.

I have a friend. His mother is an undocumented immigrant. He admitted today that he voted for Trump due to concerns about inflation. I just don't even know what to say anymore: he's college educated, but he still thinks Trump wasn't talking about his mom.

Trump will begin operations to deport millions of undocumented immigrants when he starts his term, campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Wednesday morning. He'll launch the "largest mass deportation operation" of undocumented immigrants on Day 1. trib.al/EiapTH0

It didn’t matter how vile, hateful, or unqualified Trump was, he isn’t a Black woman — and that was enough. That’s why generalized terms like “bipoc” have never truly made a difference because the manifestation of our pain and struggle is different; as is our experience.

White people, en masse, will do anything to protect whiteness. Men, en masse, will do anything to protect patriarchy. Non Black people of color, en masse, will do anything to align themselves with whiteness.

“The study finds a correlation between white American's intolerance, and support for authoritarian rule. In other words, when intolerant white people fear democracy may benefit marginalized people, they abandon their commitment to democracy.” nbcnews.com/think/opinion/…

Every demographic that isn't Black drastically increased their support for Trump. When we say Black people have no permanent allies...we mean Black people have no permanent allies.

100%

There are a lot of lessons to learn: - you have to win to wield power - you can’t “teach your side a lesson” by helping them lose - other minority groups want to be white & will vote alongside white interests even when it hurts them - black people consistently vote pragmatically

We have no friends. No one is coming to save us. It’s just us.

IF Sherrod Brown (a legitimately really good senator that actually responded to constituent concerns) loses to a used car salesman who stole wages from his employees, we have really lost the plot and I don’t think we find it again.
