So much love for this poem. These lines are TIGHT ❤️

Here's one of my poems from the new issue of Black Lilly. Information about ordering a copy of your own is on their IG page. It also includes wonderful work by @StoneCircleReview contributors @hmvanderhart and @Amorak as well as many other writers and artists.

I once went to the ER and tested positive for sepsis which resulted in emergency surgery. Another surgery patient was bumped to the next day so I could go ahead of him. I thank God I was in Massachusetts instead of Texas and I wasn’t pregnant. This shouldn’t have happened.

Yesterday we learned of a pregnant teen who died because she kept getting turned away at hospitals even though she was septic. Her pregnancy was killing her - but Texas law said she wasn't close enough to death to receive abortion care. We have to stop this 👇 #MAGAAbortionBan

This week is the second anniversary of The Tiger and the Cage and I am deeply grateful for everyone who’s read it. It’s a memoir about the most painful (literal) time of my life, but connecting with readers has brought me so much peace and grace. softskull.com/books/the-tige…

. @LMariHarris is one of my favorite flash writers. "I hear my obstetrician tell Jason to cut the umbilical cord, and suddenly, the buzzing begins low, then crescendoing, billions of paper-thin wings beating against the walls and ceiling." Wow.

🚨 Asheville and Western North Carolina are UNDERWATER. Biden’s at the beach and Kamala’s at fundraisers with West Coast Elites RADIO SILENCE from the White House This is INFURIATING.

Sister Rosetta Tharpe And, yes, I like Steve Vai, but I’d put Nancy Wilson’s intro to Crazy On You above pretty much anything by Vai. So…also Nancy Wilson

Whose Guitar needs to be added?

I recently had a significant surgery and am in the third week of recovery, still feeling quite a bit of pain. But what really hurts is my client needs AP Style and my Oxford Comma heart is screaming, crying, and breaking.

Not fair that Van Gogh could also write like that

The number of people who are suddenly aware of Jason Isbell because of last night's DNC lineup makes me so happy. Happy that I'm GenX. Because #DriveByTruckers 💜

I often think of syntax as tracks along a line from point A to point B, but I rarely think of it as the train. Much less a fully loaded freight train. Damn. This one by @pdforan is a genuine beast. heroinchic.weebly.com/blog/tilt-by-p…
