I’ve shared this story before but I think it’s pertinent to current conversation. I have a friend who has to use IVF to get pregnant. Six embryos were implanted and all six ‘took.’ Less than three months into the pregnancy (that’s 12 weeks), she was so sick she was told they had

My residency program @SinaiFamilyMed has been defunded by @MountSinaiNYC This is clearly driven by profit as our patients are under and uninsured. This program is vital to the primary care landscape in NYC and must be saved. Please sign and share docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI…

Mount Sinai Hospital has decided to defund our Family Medicine Residency as part of a move towards prioritizing profits over people. Please sign our petition and support our program in having this decision reversed! #SaveSinaiFM #PeopleOverProfits docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI…

So lucky to present my research at #CAOG2022 ! Thanks for having me

So lucky to present and attend my first research conference as a med student #CHEST2022 in Nashville! I gave an oral presentation on Paradoxical Bronchospasm in Sarcoidosis. Only possible with amazing mentors like @nsweiss7!

Unpopular opinion: Hybrid conferences should be here to stay. This is an inclusivity and accessibility issue, particularly for attendees from Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). 🧵1/11

Hot take: I don't want more sessions on being a woman or mother in med. I want more about fathers in medicine & men supporting women in med. How men, institutions, & society are helping unburden women. Not more on how to be woman who is "does it all". #MedTwitter

Very excited to be accepted for an oral presentation at #chest2022! This will be my first time attending and presenting at a medical conference as a med student. Catch me in Nashville in October discussing paradoxical bronchospasms in sarcoidosis! #MedTwitter #Pulmtwitter 🫁

I've shared this with others over the years: I had a miscarriage in 2010. I had zero say over my own body & nearly bled to death over a cluster of cells w/a heartbeat in a Catholic-run hospital. It was disgusting how the nurses & doctors treated the situation.

Hey #obgyntwitter please DM me what obgyn residencies to consider next year that make abortion training a priority. Some programs I had been considering are no longer an option or their future is uncertain. Worried it will be even more competitive on the East and West coasts now

If you can a) prescribe medication and b) have two 10 minute phone conversations a week apart then you can provide abortion care. It does not matter what specialty you are in. Now is the time.

So excited to attend my first medical conference & as a presenting author for my research on the outcomes of pregnancies complicated by sarcoidosis! Catch me in Charleston this October for an oral presentation @TheCAOG annual meeting! #MedTwitter #obgyn #MedStudentTwitter

For another thing, making “Planned Parenthood” a stand-in for abortion absolves the medical establishment of its responsibility to train practitioners in basic healthcare. You should be able to get an abortion at public hospitals like HCMC. Or at your community health clinic.

If what you really want to prevent is ppl ending viable pregnancies, well then we have to cautiously define viable. What ab fetal anomalies incompatible w life? Maternal conditions incompatible w pregnancy?

When people say they want to “make abortion illegal” it’s obvious they don’t even know what they’re talking about. About 1/3 of pregnancies end in miscarriage, aka spontaneous abortion or missed abortion.

You start making lots of exceptions to the “ban abortions” rule once you realize how complex this can be. So how about you leave these complexities up to the pregnant person & their doctor, like every other healthcare decision?

So actually you’re ok w certain types of abortions, like miscarriages or non-viable fetuses/pregnancies. So what about pregnancy from rape? Are you ok w those abortions?

While folx were out protesting unjust laws, I provided #abortion care to a Master’s graduate, a young mom, a grandmother & a person in recovery. The people needing abortions are your family, friends, neighbors. They are normal, seeking healthcare, just like you. #BansOffOurBodies
